1995 Dodge Cummins 4x4 114000+ miles with mysterious intermittent front end grinding noise that 2 different dealers and a third independent can't locate. Noise happens when turning (usually noticed at slow speeds) and can be interupted with hitting brakes, but it does not stop. Ujoints and steering rack have been replaced. Any help appreciated.

I HAVE SAME PROBLEM WITH MY 96 2500 58,000 MILES, ON A RIGHT TURN NORMALLY I HEAR THE SAME NOISE THAT DECREACESS WHEN I APPLY BRAKE PRESSURE I TO REPLACED THE AXLE U JOINT BUT STILL HAVE NOISE ANY BODY ELSE HAD THIS PROBLEM ???????????

THANKS

I have a simular problem and am going to have a further look at it in two weeks when I get home. My wife had it to a shop and they told her that the U-Joint on the steering shaft was wore and that both of the Front stabalizer links were worn out. The stabalizer links are thought to be the primary reason, but the U-Joint could also be. The u-joint looks like it's a shop type repair, but the stabalizer links looks like a strong monkey, a case of beer and few friends can tackle.

Could it be the brakes?

I have a newer truck, but is it possible that it is the brakes, since touching them seems to change the noise?
