last year replaced all 4 ball joints and all the tie rods as well as the control arm bushings. Unfortunately the idler arm and pitman are original. Things went great for a while and in the last 3 or 4 months it changed. I am starting to see the passenger side tire wearing funny on the outside ( cupping I think its called )like it was doing before the work I did. The driver side seems fine. Also I get a wicked shake out of the steering wheel from time to time, it's like someone is under the hood twisting the steering column back and forth. Seems that the steering is just plain loose. I am going to do a rotate and balance today to see if that helps.

Before I start throwing parts at it I thought I would look for suggestions that might be causing what I am feeling. I have plans to replace the idler arm, the pitman and steering box as well as the brace for the pitman arm are next.

Anything I may have forgotten to check?

Thanks in advance,

Scott

Have you done the track bar? The steering brace, gear, etc. . are nice upgrades but a loose bar will cause the condition you are seeing.

I had a really bad death wobble and have put most of the parts on that you did. I run poly bushings in the control arms, new joints, new track bar and steering brace. My steering gear is completely worn out but I don't have death wobble any more.

Check that track bar.

Any one lose part in the front end gives slack & can hammer other parts , so its one of those , if you do anything , do it all .

Ok seems that the idler is shot and it will be replaced. I called Power Steering Services to get a price on a new gear box guess I will change it too. For those that purchased from PSS did they reccomend that you replace the power steering pump also? If you did and bought the pump from them was it the correct one?

Not meaning to slam their business by no means I was just curious. If memory serves me correctly I talked to Chip and he was very helpful and he recommended changing the pump as well. They offer a lower ratio box with a lifetime warranty and the same on the pump as well.
