Front end revisited

I read on another thread that the front end trailing arm eccentrics if not adjusted the same could make our trucks drift or pull to the left or right and to avoid this, is to have the eccentrics the same. Now is that accomplished by aligning the hash marks up to be the same on both sides because if so I think my truck may be pulling to the left because my adjuster on the drivers side is at about 5 1/2 marks going clockwise from lower left and the passenger side is at about 2 1/2 going counter clockwise from the lower right. Can I turn these say the drivers side to match the passenger side or will that effect my alingment as it has been checked and was "within specs. " and if so how do I go about it, just loosing and turn or should the front end be off of the ground.

You can't go by the marks. You have to check the distance front the center of the front axle to the center of the rear axle. Changing the settings could change the toe-in. You really should find a good frame shop and have an alignment done. A lot of people take brand new cars to be aligned before they wear their tires. The dealers won't in many cases and can't in others.

I have adjusted the eccentrics my self on my '96 to gain some positive caster. You cannot tell how many degrees caster w/o the proper tools. The front end must be off the ground/frame supported on jackstands. It really is easy to do. I did it to see if adding caster would help with the front end shimmy that I was experiencing.

The control arm eccentrics need to be at the same 'hash mark' otherwise you will be tearing up the bushings as they are unevenly loaded.
