I've tried a bunch also. I had husky liners molded, but they were bad on the paint and sit in the garage now.
I had diamond plate flaps with rubber extensions. I made them myself (had to trim the front flaps to clear the inner-fenders. I had about $60 invested in them. They wroked the best, just not the look I wanted.
Now I have some fairly rigid plastic flaps that are small. They don't work as well, but they get the job done and I like the looks. To each his own.
I've seen the northwest flaps, and if you like diamond plate (or stainless), they sure are nice.
