Having never been or had any experience, I'll relate some 3rd party experience..... (mostly reputable sources I know and trust with my life)... . I've trained and worked with several people that have been, all law enforcement officers. Most speak well of it, but they didn't seem too overly impressed. I DO know some real meatheads that went and say they learned a lot, but, then again, I was surprised they could read.....
As for civys that have never had much of a chance to shoot, I'd wager it'd be money well spent. It's certainly better than shooting yourself in the leg when you should be aiming at someone down the hall... . or freezing up and not being able to pull the trigger when you need to. Or, just as well, learning proper firearm handling and accuracy so you don't shoot yourself or loved ones without meaning to..... All sad scenarios that can be avoided by simply investing a little time and money into training yourself to be better, which is what Piazza is all about.....
And not to step on your toes, but if you have it, use it!! It could potentially save your life. I'll tell you from experience, law enforcement officers can't be everywhere all the time. Your chances of surviving a violent confrontation go up several hundred percent when you arm yourself, first with knowledge, then with experience, and finally, with adequate weaponry. The latter is useless without the prior. And chances are, you'll have a good time, too!!
