Older thread, I know...but I have ran (and currently do) mismatched ratios on a first gen. Not for the same reasons you do, but more out of laziness.
I currently have 3.55 front (60) and 4.56 rear (14 bolt). Same size tires. I have 4.56's for the front 60, just haven't got around to putting them in. I have used it in 4wd numerous times on trails and what not...and while it isn't normal, it hasn't broke anything. Originally it was just a "ill take it out this once", and that was in ~2016. It is obviously super hard to get back out of 4wd because everything is bound up, so I have to unlock a hub, free up the drivetrain, and then put the t case back in 2wd. One of these days ill get un-lazy and put the 4.56's in the front.
Id think if you had issues with anything, it would likely be a u joint in the front driveshaft or a 30spl stub shaft in the front.
I guess the real question is how much are you going to use 4wd and where? I think your mismatch of gears and tires will be close enough that you wont ever have an issue unless you are driving it on dry pavement, or really fast in 4wd.
