I have an 03 4wd that i believe has one if not 2 bad wheel bearings I remember a article in the TDR about how to change them and where to purchase them directly at about half the price It must have been an issue i lent out because i cant find it Cant realy afford $650 to $700 for bearings along with all the other wore out stuff in the front end 100000 miles in NY states salt and ice preventing chemicals is rough on stuff Thanks in advance for your replys

I think it was Ryan Battelle who did all the research and found the manufacturer who makes them for Dodge. The sealed bearing hubs were like 25% of the MOPAR price from his source.

PM RBattelle and ask him.

Just take the plunge and install a Dynatraxx system you'll save fuel and wear on the front end and if you ever have to replace the bearings they are much less expencive and can be serviced... .

Check this place out Wheel Hub Assembly - 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 - AutoPartsWarehouse.com I bought mine from there when I replaced mine last year. If you call them they will discount it even further. I paid a little under 200. 00 shipped last year. They were listed around 230. 00 then. Tell them your local dealer has them in stock for near the same price and they will usually beat it. They are a Timken assembly and seem to be pretty decent units.

It is going to be a little bit of a fight to get them off, but take your time and don't be too scared of a big hammer and chisel to separate them. They are a chore, but alot cheaper than a dealer or someone else doing in. Remember to jack the side you are working on up a little higher than level so your diff oil doesn't leak out. Scotty

Just a heads up on AutoPArtWarehouse.com. Go ahead and google them along with the word "fraud" and read what comes up before you buy from them. I did not and came to regret it. They are based somewhere in the Phillipines and thier salespeople are trained to say ANYTHING to make the sale. They do not stock anything, but simply order and ship or drop ship the merchandise. SOME people get lucky and get what they want for a great price, but it seems to be a crap shoot. I learned all of this on google... an employee even wrote in to talk about their training program. BEFORE I READ about them, I bought Piaa wiperblades from them at a great price, but when they came in the mail they were just an off brand, no name or nothing. It took WEEKS to get them to admit it, and then more weeks to actually get a refund. I will never deal with them again, particularly for expensive parts. PLEASE NOTE that I am NOT trying to flame Scotty or deny that he got a great deal on the wheel bearings. I AM suggesting that you do more research before you risk money and time with AutoPartsWarehouse.com. There are MANY links to bad business experiences about them on Google.

No issues on that. I was kind of in a pinch on leave and needed to get something fast and they answered the mail. Thanks for the research on it. I appreciate the heads up on the company. That is what TDR exists for I think. There are a few others with similar prices. I just typed in Dodge Unit Wheel Bearings and started price shopping. They happened to be the cheapest even before calling. Scotty

I guess i need more help The company I work for buys several hundred thousand dollars worth of bearings from skf each year So I had the parts guy call today The woman he always talks to said the part number didnt come up in the computer. Any sugestions?

Hi, Most likely it is your U-joints are worn out on front axle. I have 03 4x4 and have replaced mine twice in 130,000 mi. Front bearing hub assembly is bad design and most people break bearing taking it appart. Hope this helps.

From 03-05 had new bearing that was changed because it rusted and seized to spindle housing. My first bearings pulled apart by dealer when R&R to replace U-joints. This is very common for u-jounts to last 65-70,000 mi. If replacing u-joints on a budget you have to be very careful. This bearing assembly has to be pounded and beat and pulled useing very good puller and alot of penetrating oil. It can be taken apart without breaking it. Being careful not to pull only with puller you need big hammer and chisel. I ground a notch in side of bearing to pound chisel into to help pry it from spindle housing. It was alot of work to save bearings but saved $600. I"d recommend using alot of Anti-Seize compoud on it when reassembling. GOOD LUCK!. .
