Lately I have been experiencing froze throttle cable. I have to let the truck wake and keep the neighbors awake for 15 minutes so i can leave in mornings. I live off side jobs, the latest string of them is snow removal any time of day or night. Straight pipe 5" turbo back to 7" stacks seems to rattle houses and wake young kids aka handfulls. Any suggestions to keep the cable from freezing so i can start and go?

Check with Toyota for fix.

I know not funny.

Check for moisture in side cable--use heat gun [hair dryer] to warm and dry. Look for Kinks in cable

I would spray a water displacing spray like a silicone spray inside the throttle cable so it does it's job and displaces the water. This happened to a guy I work with on his CTD and it scared the poop out of him, he said his brakes could barely hold his truck back.

That should not be happening but it does. Either a lube that will resists freezing or replace the cable should help. Could have a tear or wear that is allowing moisture in.

i am pretty sure you dont have a throttle cable. should be fly by wire 2004. 5 and up

Not until MY 05. The 04. 5 trucks still had the APPS under the hood and a throttle cable.

SWithrow, did you ever get your truck figured out? I was watching the thread and it seems your at a standstill. I'm always curious what the problem wound up being.

I ordered a CP3 and just got it today my hopes are to get it installed this weekend. The truck runs great other than the starting problem. I will followup next week.

Lithium grease will not penetrate down into the cable housing plus it gets kind of gummy if you use too much. I would use WD40 or penetrating oil. Only a suggestion from experience. Lithium grease works great on hood latches, door hinges and your tailgate because it is so thick.
