Hey guys, I'm thinking about grinding my stock plate down to about a #10 profile. I see people say that the fuel economy doesn't change much when driving around empty, but my truck is always loaded. I get about 15. 5mpg right now, I was wondering if anyone could give me an estimate on how my fuel economy might change, as the truck would be using the extra HP instead of just coasting most of the time like an empty truck.

Thanks

If you drive it like a granny you'll get better mileage, but if you feel the tendency with the new found power to use your right foot more you will loose mileage.

Matthug's comment pretty much matches mine. I don't carry loaded much but if I'm light on the throttle, the mileage is about stock. I'm getting about 14-15 in town and 19-20 hwy.

my rig, loaded with trailer behind it, weighs in at around 18k, and at 65 mph, I get right around 14 mpg with stock injectors haven't hauled the trailer yet with the dd2's I got now, but the unloaded mpg seems to be up a bit with them

I averaged 18. 3 mpg unloaded @ 65 on a recent road trip with the stock injectors

Your rig will still require the same hp to do the same speed... ... ..... the question is will you drive the same speed? :-laf

Came up

My mileage actually came up with a #5 plate. I used to get around 15 loaded, pulling around six thousand. I now get around 18, and 20-23 empty. This is with a few spurts to show off on aceleration ramps... :-laf Mileage came up around one to two empty, and two to three loaded. :D

Bob, good point.

thanks guys for the info. sounds like something I'll give a try. I'm sure I can probably get my hands on another stock one from somewhere if I don't like it.
