What fuel filters are you using when you relocate you lift pump back by the fuel tank? Is anyone using the Racor that have the fuel heaters in them? With the lift pump relocated by the fuel tank, is a fuel heater need?

Bob, Mallory recommends one that will filter down to 40 microns, they also make a pre-filter. Mine is just a sediment bowl, no filter and I found only very small and fine amounts of debris in the pump bowl when I took it apart, I don't really know if this was enough to cause mine to fail. Should know soon, but I'd use something, for cheap insurance if nothing else.

Bob-pre filter I'm using the BG5000, but I'm thinking of changing it to an inline filter of one of the other manufacturers, because of aesthetics and amount of hang down below the tank--I'm totally gravity fed---and using a Mallory 110FI pump

As for the Racor--I've had one on since early April--heater/wif/filter--and bigger ports--no problems yet---it's a nice unit--pricey, but baby I ain't got no fuel line restrictions in my setup--except at the vp44 inlet and once the machinist get those -8 fittings done I should be good to go up to the mega HP if I want----also using a regulator/return right at the VP44----so the cat is out---I've yet to finish my testing with psi at different PE settings & WOT--but I can guarantee that I've got plenty of fuel(smoke) for my set up--maybe you don't need to go my route but my system provides fuel and a return so the pump isn't pumping against itself--chris

Chris,

Is the return line in the injection pump adequate for the Mallory 140? I see you installed a regulator and return line. Is this necessary? Would you please elaborate on this.

has been so far for HVAC, but he's going to or thinkin heavily of adding a regulator and separate return back to the tank---the VP44 still has it's return --so as a precaution to the vp and the lift pump I added the regulator and separate return line--so as not to overwork the vp or the pump--more for the pump is/was my original thought but it sure can't hurt the VP either and may help it more than we know---only real time testing will be proof positive---chris
