Fuel Filter FS19856

Posting in subject line so it is easy to find. Bear with me here. I didn't find any posts that specifically addressed this subject in TDR. I Googled:FS19856 and found a post @ cumminsforum.com. Within that post there is a link to cumminfiltration.com. The link does not work. If you go to cumminsfiltration good luck finding newsletters or product literature. I gave up. Bottom line, when you order the premium 7micron filter from Genos you used to get FS19800E. You now get FS19856_P. The new P/N is apparently the same filter media but the gasket (yellow) is ULSD compatible. The old one was not? The new gasket may be aimed at biodeisel use. I've been running B2 to B5 for year or so, have not had any leakers, and I just changed out to my last FS19800E. The FS19856 will go in next time. Best bet is to call Geno's for some background.

Not much difference. Chrysler P/N for the new filter is 68001914AB.

Bought a couple of FS19800 last year, I'm only a year or so behind the curve . One curious thing, the Genos parts catalog calls this "user fiendly design". If you look this up at cummins filtration you find a spin on plastic filter.

Heck, I'm still working on a stock of FS19579's! It'll be years before I use them all up. I was running B10 (until my supplier quit offering it... GRRRRRR), and now I'm running ULSD. No leaks (yet).

You probably wont. I had called Fleetguard a while back, and the lady on the other end said that over time the old o-ring can crack, but most people that drive the truck daily replace the filter often enough that it's not a problem.



Off topic, but did that B10 seem to make your engine quieter? B20 in mine seems to reduce some of the typical tics that it has. I'm just wondering if that's true, or if I'm (not) hearing things...

Heck, with as tight as the lid fits on that canister, I cannot see much of a leak developing even without a gasket.



I am kind of being tongue-in-cheek here, but I don't see it being much of an issue one way or the other.

This is probably it. Over time would be the 30k interval (I think) thats recommended in the maint sched. I change mine every 10k.

I think so. But it could be psychological, I don't know.
