Was talking to a well known machinist in the diesel industry and his latest project is going to create an adapter to get rid of the stock fuel filter housing. In it's place you will be able to put a screw-on 2 micron CAT filter.

Sounds like a plan!

What are you going to do about the fuel heater and the WIF sensor? If the WIF is un-plug will you get a CEL?

a better way to go is to add a dual filter like this
#ad

No doubt! But having the ability to put in a 2 micron unit on top of those... I'll take it too.

For the record, I have a dual filter setup similar to yours, but with Donaldson filters.

I disagree. If you get better filtration, why not? A spin on will be much easier to change than the PITA stock unit.

You said eliminate the stock filter correct. That will void warranty,do away with the wif. fuel heater replacing with a 2mic cat that has little water stripping capability. Not a great idea, good luck

I agree. Add a 2 micron filter after the stocker and have the benefit of both. GDP probably sells a kit with all the proper fittings, I added one on my signature truck and it was absolutely complete.

I agree with rscurtis; I have this set up on my 08. I have the GDP Big Line Kit and 2 um filter mounted after the stock 5 um filter and ahead of the CP-3 fuel pump. I installed the latest factory updated filter and canister that Geno's was selling part number FS43257. The Big line kit and filter part number is MK27509-BLK fits the 07. 5 to 09 truck.

I made my own 2mic filter set up before making any of my Baja trips. I have never had any fuel system issues and have never eliminated the oem filter

Eric,
You may have to remove the cross over EGR tube to install the bracket; but yes this will fit in my opinion.
I would also make sure that the fuel hoses do not rub on the EGR cross over tube.
