Was talking to a well known machinist in the diesel industry and his latest project is going to create an adapter to get rid of the stock fuel filter housing. In it's place you will be able to put a screw-on 2 micron CAT filter.
Sounds like a plan!
What are you going to do about the fuel heater and the WIF sensor? If the WIF is un-plug will you get a CEL?

Yup eliminating the oem filter on a dd is not worth the trouble
I disagree. If you get better filtration, why not? A spin on will be much easier to change than the PITA stock unit.
I agree. Add a 2 micron filter after the stocker and have the benefit of both. GDP probably sells a kit with all the proper fittings, I added one on my signature truck and it was absolutely complete.
