It seems like all of our trucks are like this... bugged the bejesus out of me... So I dropped my tank, and checked the float level, and found it to be about 2 3/4 in. off the bottom... So I modified (bent), the stainless float rod so that is was only 3/4 in. off the bottom... now when the needle rides on empty, and the lil' dinger go's off, I have about 2-3 gallons left. . works for me. . we're not idiots, I watch the fuel guage, almost as much as the rear view mirrow, so it's unlikley I'll run out of fuel... . Yes, I know the fuel is also there to cool the pump...
