Truck: 1995 dodge ram 2500 12v CTD 4x4

Motor Mods: 370's, AFC, 16cm hot-side, BHAF, #5 plate pushed forward, 6" stacks.

Miles: 146,000

Recently I have had diesel in my oil, I can tell because it smells like fuel, and because when I drained my pan at my shop, it drained 1-3 quarts more then what is supposed to be in there, this is an estimate by way of markings on a hose on my container.

I have talked to many people on other forums, and have worked on many trucks, but unfortunatly, have not run into this problem before, ive been studying the site, and my service manuals/repair disks, but havent found my answer...

I have alot of people telling me its my 370 injectors that have gone bad, so today I ordered DDP3's from one of my distributers. Having heard this before and read this before, I was sure this was the issue untill about an hour ago, when I called piers to ask them about a overflow valve which hasent been replaced ever.

I called a guy from piers, and he was certain it is my lift pump causing this to happen, and that there was no way injectors would do this, and for my truck to run normal. Thing is, my lift pump is brand new with only 10k on it. .

My truck does not smoke alot. . only when I want it to by way of throttle, upon startup and idle, there is a little gray smoke, but nothing while idling. My temps are in good shape, so a cracked or blown head is probably not the cause. .

What do you guys think?? My truck is down, and I need it back up to snuff asap just like everyone else.

Any advice would be appriciated.

Thanks!

that doesn't sound good i remember seeing a thread talking about something like this when i was looking for info on my lift pump so the best advice i've got is keep searching it's on here somewhere and maybe in the meantime someone smarter than me might have the answer ... ... ... ... ... ... ... . it definetly doesn't sound like an injector problem though or you'd notice a change in drivability i'd think maybe an internal lift pump leak?

It wouldn't be injectors because no oil runs through them they are lubricated by fuel only.

right. . but I know I have seen a bad injector show no signs of wear on the motor driveabilty, just because it doesnt give alot of pressure. . and it ends up having fuel in the oil pan, just not as much as I did.

Going to install a fuel pressure gauge as well, hopefully that will release a little info as well.

if its not the injectors, I guess I just bought an upgrade. .

You know, I was talking to the guy from DDP, and he even asked me if I was sure I had 370s. . Due to the low-smoke issue, got me thinking maybe the guy I bought them from pulled a fast one on me. . but my EGTs seam right for 370s, lol. . i dont know. .

Just need to get my truck back up. .

Anybody have an electric fuel pressure gauge? I have heard from here that westech makes a nice kit. .

Does anybody know if the lift pump on 95's uses a diaphragm? I know that in "the old days" gasoline engines that used a mechanical fuel pump would get a small tear in the diaphragm, it would fill the crankcase with gasoline. The tear was too small to kill the pump, so the vehicle would still run, but gasoline would leak through into the engine.

Just my nickel's worth (adjusted for inflation:-laf)

makes sense. .

But im not sure if they do or not. .

Anyone?

Damn, so I have a feeling I just bought injectors for nothing... lol

Well,

wasnt the injectors, but I love the DDP3's, great power, kinda sad I didnt go larger, but maybe in the future when I have the turbos to run them.

Now, going to install the lift pump/overflow on tuesday. . Will get more results then. .
