The mandated ethanol in the gas is a real winner. Fuel economy suffers and the cost of everything mildly connected to corn skyrockets. Way to go. Two examples are the cost of beef and of course a good 'ol ear of corn in season. :{
You must be brewing the high octane stuff. Can it be used to increase Cetane level in diesel fuel?

And food shortages in the poor countries who use corn as the primary staple of their diet.
The only thing ethanol actually accomplishes is increase handouts to the nation's federal farmers in the cornbelt and buy votes for slimy politicians in those states.
Another brain dead idiot solution to a non-problem by the blow-dried empty suits who pretend to govern our formerly great nation.
Two different kinds of corn belive it or not
When uncertainty of crude oil supplies occur as is the case now throughout the raghead middle east the price of crude rises. The price of crude increases the price at every stage of production and delivery resulting in large price increases for motor fuels at the pump.
Increased costs of motor fuels increase the cost of EVERYTHING in America. If raghead terrorist thugs take over every region, not really nations, throughout the middle east all the things we take for granted in America such as food and clothing on the shelves could immediately become disrupted if not completely unavailable.
Most of the blame for this lies with the political and economic morons who voted for the muslim marxist messiah's empty and impossible promises. I don't know if the rest of the world simply knows nobama is an incompetent weakling pretending to be president and know he is impotent in the face of world terrorism and disruption or if he signaled his acquiesence for terrorist takeovers around the muslim world but we have a disaster staring us in the face.
Gail,
Sadly, I fear you are correct in your price predictions and socialists like guldump will still be blaming George Bush and Dick Cheney because they once owned or managed companies in the oil industry.
Did you notice . . . guldump could only insult me? He has no understanding whatsoever of economics or politics and therefore has no clue why I wrote what I wrote.
Boys, play nice. Lets not forget the Wall Street folks bidding up crude when there is no shortage. Remember, O. P. E. C. has not raised the floor on crude for many years. That having been said, drill baby drill.
JH, you have hit the nail on the head !!!
This is in fact the REAL reason why crude and fuel prices that are dependent on crude oil prices are so high... on a DAILY basis, for every ONE barrel of crude oil that is sold for actual refinement, over FIFTY are bought and sold to futures traders with no intent or ability to take delivery, who are simply playing the game to make (or granted possibly lose) money...
So if supply and demand actually influences fuel prices, which barrels will influence prices MORE... the ONE that is bought/sold by the refineries OR the FIFTY that are simply bought/sold for specualtion ???
I'm completely stumped as to why diesel is so high to begin with.
For my entire life, diesel prices have been lower or level with low grade gasoline. And now the price is comparable to high octane, if not higher.
I've heard every argument under the sun but none make any sense to me whatsoever.
Would you believe the Chinese are buying all the diesel they can get their hands on?
