I have a 92 ctd with 210,000 miles. I bought about the truck about a month ago. The fuel setting was pretty lean so I adjusted the fuel screw in about a turn. It improved the power greatly. The next morning when I started the truck the engine raced up to full rpms and then settled down to proper idle. I assumed I had adjusted the fuel screw into far and tried to back it out. Now fuel pores out of adjustment screw and engine idle varies wildly. My question can I replace a seal on the adjustment screw or does the injection pump have to be rebuilt.

The screw has an o-ring on it and can be replaced without removing the pump. Just make sure to mark where your settings are now so you can get close to them.

Back the screw out until it quits then you should be able to pull it with your fingers. The o-ring will give a little ressitance.
