I just installed my Isspro EV gauges, the pyro and the boost work good but the fuel pressure is a another story. I first had it connected to the decored schrader valve on the vp44 with a stainless line to the isolater and then the 1/8" plastic line from there to the gauge. First time i started it, it went to 13psi, took it for a ride and it dropped to 2-3 psi. I brought it back in the garage and bled the line and started it again and it went to 10psi for about 30 seconds and dropped to 2-3 psi again. I thought the isolator might be defictive after reading all the post about people getting bad ones, so i took the isolater out and put in a needle valve making it a straigt shot to the gauge. I then started it and it went to about 9-10 psi and dropped to 2-3 psi after about 30 seconds, i then bled it and it did the same. After i put the needle valve in i had to cycle the lift pump about 10 times to get it started. It runs fine though, i dont have any hesitation problems, any rough idle or any thing like that so i dont know if its the lift pump or what but im complety stumped... . I just bought it in march so im not sure if its the orignal lift pump or not.

OrangeCummins,

I just replaced a lift pump in my 2001. The symptoms were remarkably like yours. Good pressure at startup then die off to 2 to 6 pounds. Sometimes it would come back up while I was rolling along but mostly 6 with a drop to 2 at WOT.

I took it to the ******* to try for a replacement under warrantee - they ran their patented flow test which my pump "passed" then they stole the $85 diagnostic fee (which they would generously apply toward the $300+ parts & labor if they put the pump in at my request). I have about 8K miles on the VP44 injection pump that DC did warrantee replace while I was in Canada last fall. So I ordered a replacement lift pump from Hoesli Diesel ($140 shipped to my door) and put it in myself.

My bet is your lift pump is almost out the barn door. If you're not setting codes or getting a check engine light, save the $85 and do it yourself.
