I'm ready to order gauges, but have a question. When I called Geno's, they told me that on the '03 I didnt need a fuel pressure gauge. I've read about all the problems with the lift pumps and the consequences when you lose one. I think it is on the older models though. Is is a "nice to have" on my '03 or do I "need" one help prevent the "BIG ONE".

My $0.02

I have one and feel that is it is one parameter that I want to monitor. I plan on adding injectors and a box and would like to know if the truck is not getting enough go juice.

I have one too. It's definitely a 'nice to have', not a 'need'. The trucks will run with 0psi to the cp3 if the lift pump fails. Also if you plan on adding high performance stuff, you dont need a gauge to know you'll have no pressure. With just 100hp dialed up I can pull the fuel pressure down to 0 in a hurry. Once you get a pusher pump setup you will know you have 15-17psi or whatever that setup regularly delivers... Once you've got that going you really wont have to ever look at it again. It is 'nice to have' for the purpose of measuring your fuel filter's life.

It's certainly questionable that Genos is telling people they don't need fuel pressure gauges on their 3rd gens... I think they're trying to appear to not be so capitalistic, not selling us something we don't need - but to me it's just stupid. We call up wanting to buy something and they try to talk us out of it. . Interesting business tactic. .

I did not have one on my '01 and that was a big mistake. Made diagnosing a dead lift pump nearly impossible. Put one on the 04. 5 just for peace of mind. I figure they haven't been out long enough for any problems to surface so I wanted to be ahead of the game. Total cost ended up being around $200, about $50 more than I though it would. More than I wanted to spend, but the peace of mind is worth it.

OK Thanks for the help. I think I would feel better having one. Just trying to find a white face gauge to match the Issipro---thats electric.
