I have one too. It's definitely a 'nice to have', not a 'need'. The trucks will run with 0psi to the cp3 if the lift pump fails. Also if you plan on adding high performance stuff, you dont need a gauge to know you'll have no pressure. With just 100hp dialed up I can pull the fuel pressure down to 0 in a hurry. Once you get a pusher pump setup you will know you have 15-17psi or whatever that setup regularly delivers... Once you've got that going you really wont have to ever look at it again. It is 'nice to have' for the purpose of measuring your fuel filter's life.
It's certainly questionable that Genos is telling people they don't need fuel pressure gauges on their 3rd gens... I think they're trying to appear to not be so capitalistic, not selling us something we don't need - but to me it's just stupid. We call up wanting to buy something and they try to talk us out of it. . Interesting business tactic. .
