I'm hooking up a mechanical FP gauge with no isolator just a needle valve and was wondering is you have to bleed the air out of the system? Or leave it in there to act as a damper...

Also how would you hook your gauges to dim with the stock gauges? Is it easy to do?

no - bleeding is not necessary. it will pressurize just fine. i did the same thing on my 3rd gen.

i crack the needle valve just enough to let the gauge work. that way even if the line breaks, it won't leak much fuel before i see or smell it.

i tapped the gauge light off of the heater control lights. i have my gauges mounted in the dash cubby, so this may not help you. any dash light or gauge light should be a good point for a tap. just use a test light to figure out which wire going to the dash light is correct.

good luck

headlight switch

I tied all my gauges to the brown wire on the back of the headlight switch. They come on and dim with the stock dash lights.

You can also pick up one of those "add a fuse" deals at most autoparts stores. All you have to do is remove the fuse for the illumination(sp) and plug in this deal which has not only a place for an extra fuse for your gauges but also a pig tail to connect your gauge wire to. This way it does the same thing as connecting to the brown wire but is much faster.

They are $$$ but that is the only way I do customers guages now. .

If you tie it in this way will it still dim with the factory circut... Or will it just come on when you turn the lights on...
