I need some input from the different setups out there. I purchased the nordskog digital guage, but it doesnt read anything but 1psi. I tapped off the bottom of the fuel filter with ray's banjobolt. I just think I got the wrong gauge and sender unit because when I test the pressure at the vp 44 w/ another manual gueage everything reads normal.

Now,

I am looking to go another route to install a permanent gauge & just want to know what would be the eaisest and best. Here is what I was considering; Going with a 30psi boost guage and tapping it off the bottom of the fuel filter, but I wasnt sure if that would be suitable using the smaller nylon hose. Anyone out there doing that? I believe some are, but wasnt sure if that is really accurate & how well hte guage reads. Ideas?

The other way is to purchace the 0-15 psi fuel pressure guage from autometer. I know its a lil low, but I figure it would do the trick. There is 2 different ways to run it, one via a isolator and the other straight off the fuel filter into the cab. My question there is, which works best & will I have enough room to mount all that on my steering colum. I have the autometer gauge pod for there, but I wasnt sure if the fuel lines would fit down through.

All feedback is appreciated.

Thanx

Cole

I have the Nordskog Dig. gauge and it works great. I came off the Injector pump with hose to sender. Reads steady as can be.

I have the lines running in the cab,but don't advise it, it is a PITA and it's way to noisy. I'm loosing those and gettin' electric gauges,I'll have to settle for the 16# version. My . 02

noise?

so mechanical guages are noisy?

what about using a boost guage? would that be noisy as well?

Chuck, the digital nordskog I got was the 100psi guage, & it dont like anything under 15psi which I found out a bit too late. I would buy the 0-16 psi guage, but summitracing dont carry the sender unit anymore & unfornately my sender unit wont werk with the lower range gauge.

I also wanted to kind of avoid having the sender units fail, so I was thinking mechnical. So on that note, would a mech with an isolator ever fail? Would it be noisy? How exaclty does the isolator work without sending fuel to the gauge? air??

thanx

Noisy, oh yea it sounds like a engine on your dashboard! Yea, they gotta go! And don't even think about running the line from the VP44,good greif, I couldn't even hear the hummin Cummins

when I did that.

An isolator is basically a pancake with a diaphragm in the middle, completely separating the two sides. Diesel goes in one side, fill fluid (usually an antifreeze mix) goes in the other side. 1 PSI in = 1 PSI out.

I recomend the Electronic FP gauge by Westach. Got it from Genos. Get a second sender and a small switch and you can monitor pre and post fuel filter. Gives you 2 reading to compare which allows you to monitor fuel filter restriction and know if you have a sender going bad. Isolate the senders with a 12" greese gun hose. Mine has been in for 6 months with no problems.

I kind of have the same problem, I bought the Autometer mechanical guage with an isolator, 0-15 psi. The problem is I installed the pusher pump system from Enterprise Engine. It pegs my guage, so I had to disconnect it. I need something to go from 0-30 psi's and I would like it to get close to matching my Autometer Ultra-lites since they are all mounted on the A-pillar. I may have to go with the boost guage and a new isolator. Anyone have any other suggestions?

I am in the same boat I have all Auto meter and I would like to get a electric Auto meter 0-15 but i dont think they make one.

I have an Autometer Z series 0-15 electric FP guage. I think they're available in all series, but they are pricey :(

I have one of these currently on the hood, can't comment on the noise because it's not in the cab ... .

I just received one of these that i will be replacing the above gauge with. 0-20 psi's (boost gauge). I had a adapter (-4AN to 1/8NPT) left over from when I purchased the braided FP line from Summit. If it doesn't work well with the braided line, I plan on using 1/4" boost line and NPT compression fittings . Hopefully, the Vac. area of the gauge will never be used.

I have the Westach 0-15 electric fuel press. gauge, I ordered it from Geno's, I also read somewhere on here awhile back that they can order a 0-30 gauge for you or else go straight to the Westach site, which I don,t know right off hand.

What is the lighting like at night? Do you have a part number? And there is no noise is there?

I posted a thread a day or so ago in the products/accessories forum regarding some info Westach sent me about 2 different 0-30 psi fuel pressure systems they sell.

I have an Autometer Sport comp mech guage one the piller. came off the post filter side. I have not noticed any noise from mine before. mine does not have an isolater either. wasn't someone working on a 30 psi fuel pressure guage at one point?

Augustus, I'm not sure on how you would adapt an isolator to the boost line, guess it could be done but to be honest, I have zero experience with the isolators. This gauge is mounted on the hood, so I have less concern for a leak. If you are planning on running a boost line into the cap for a FP setup, I would choose the 1/4" line over the 1/8" line and use the brass compression fittings with the stud inserts at each hose end to help ensure a good seal.

I just finished the install on the above gauge tonight. I used the existing -4AN braided line as the source, adapting to the 1/8"NPT fitting on the gauge with a -4AN to 1/8" NPT female fitting. I can't see how the braided line would fail, it would take a gauge failure for you to have a leak in the cab. Some members have reported a very annoying noise in the cab with the mechanical gauges and braided line, perhaps a rubber snubber line (read grease gun hose) installed at the FP source, with the braided then mated via coupler, would help to lessen the noise ??? Not sure 'cause I never tried that, just a thought.
