People Hate Us Diesel Owners ......

According to the #s on those gas pumps on that site, it shows that refining costs are the same for diesel as for gasoline. Do you think we should believe that? And distributing is 2% higher. Why would that be? I'll bet that it does not cost anymore to transport diesel than it does gas. And marketing??????????? Hey if people need it , they buy it. And, I believe that in N. D. the tax for diesel is no higher than gas, although I am not totally certain on this though. All in all, I think someone is just trying to justify their greed. No offense to you intended, and I thank you for bringing this to our attention. But I guess that if a co. has the ability, they can print whatever they want and splash it all over the world wide web, and hope that everyone believes what they say. There is undoubtedly some valid info on the site, and I am sure to get flamed. But I guess we can all be like sheep, or not!

I might start more flames by this but I was told by an Exxon/Mobil Rep. , that most of the oil that comes out of OUR ALASKAN PIPELINE, gets shipped to Japan because the haul is shorter and the price is higher, thus a greater profit. This was just here say, so I don't know how accurate it is so don't hold me to this. If someone is more knowledgable about this I would like to know if there is any truth to it. I believe in capitolism but what is right is right and what is wrong is wrong, and making us buy more Saudi oil so the oil companies can make more money off the Japanese is wrong. Thanks, Mike.

Mike, I just heard the same thing from a friend of mine just today. I do not know where he gets his info from. But, I have heard this very same thing a few times in the last few years, from other sources. FWIW

Correct .....kind'a

S. 395, repealing the ban on exporting Alaskan crude, was signed by President Clinton on November 28, 1995. The ban on exporting Alaska oil was imposed in 1973 at the height of the oil embargo by members of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries. In recent years, the oil industry and Alaska's congressional delegation have pushed for the export ban to be lifted to ease an oil supply glut on the West Coast and boost production of North Slope crude.

That fact sure smacks as contradictory to what is being talked, doesn't it. The way I am hearing it is that we have such a shortage. Well, a shortage of refineries anyway. This is good info though Hammersley. Thanx
