I like the ideas that you two have. I'll contact my representatives, in the maen time Mike you pick the company to boycott. Perhapse the bigger the better, or maybe smaller is best.

Let me know.

So what's supposed to be the explination as to why diesel is as high as premium?

I understand the overall fuel screwing, don't grasp why diesel got higher than regular.

Or is it just because they can?

How about Mobile and Exxon? They are one huge company, not two, as we are led to believe? Writing congressman and senators is a waste of time. They will do nothing. The only way to have a shot is by witholding our money from a giant such as Mobile and Exxon. It would sure be interesting to see what would happen if NOBODY bought diesel or gasoline from Mobile or Exxon for a month or two.

I for one am not car poor. i can let my CTD sit for a month or two and just pick something else in the driveway to drive. I would love to help screw over the oil companies. :D

After filling up for the 3rd time in 5 days, today @ $2. 699/gal. I have parked the truck in favor of my new Harley. It might be cold in the mornings, but @ 45MPG, I can't afford not to ride. I've just written my senator, not that it will help, but at least they have to earn there D**N money, by reading my e-mail. Count me in for the BOYCOTT, just let me know what company is first... I think its more to do with home heating oil and jet fuel. Its all in the same boat.

Somebody said that, but I don't ever remember Diesel being higher than regular, usually a bit lower. It all goes up or it all goes down, I've just never seen them jack Diesel up above premium. I guess this is the big move to get all the new owners of diesel vehicles used to taking it in the rear. Just like CA is wanting to tax the miles you drive rather than fuel now. It all boils down to the Benjamins, they don't give a rats azz about "environment" "saving fuel" or any of that high minded BS, just show me the money. Oo.

fuel prices South Georgia

At the Shell truck stop in Folkston, Ga. $1. 85 per gal.

off road 1. 49 per gal.

Walmart Super Store Jax, Fl. 2. 04 per gal.

BRodgers, I don't know where you live in ID but in Emmett (30 miles N. of Boise) it is $2. 37... ... ... ... Larv

Yep, $2. 39 in Nampa, Idaho. Just got back from Eugene, Or, $2. 49 there. On the way over I hit my best mileage yet with the CTD. Empty, running around 65 mph (speed limit was 55) for most of the trip, I got a hand caculated 21. 7mpg. :)

I talked with a representative from my congrussmans office. One of the things he said was that to the federal government and to the individual states that the taxes on diesel are a cash cow for both. He went on to talk about the high price of a barrel of light crude and commented that it involves the relative strength/weakness of the dollar in relation to Unable currency, and that as long as we are in Iraq that that would not change. . After hearing all of this my thought is that it is a total waist of time trying to deal with the government. They do not see this as anything with acting on. So on to the boycott. Mobil/Exxon is a great choice for us diesel owners. However the gasoline driving public will never go along with it. We are to few and they are to many. If somehow the"truckers" could be brought into the mix and apply pressure it could make an effective impact to the economy. But Iamb not smart enough to figure out how to do that. It will take someone with more experience, etc. to figure that on out. :--)

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe a boycott of this nature would have no effect at all because gas stations tend to get their fuel from whichever distributor is closest to them, regardless what the name on the station says. I haven't witnessed this personally (have seen numerous discussions of this though), but it makes perfect sense, rather than paying to transport it a long distance it would be more logical for them to simply trade it like the commodity it is.

It's really a bad situation, since they hold all the cards. Either pay the prices, or they'll simply sell to somebody else. And there are plenty of others willing to pay these prices. Sadly it's just basic econ...

Forgot to add that here in the Midland/Saginaw county area of Michigan diesel prices are finally stabilizing within a few cents of regular gasoline. Some of us are still doing much better than we would be if we had the gas engine truck instead. Including me.

The station I usually fill up at was $1. 99 9 this morning at 6:15 am on the way to work. This afternoon same station, price jumped to $2. 09 9. Another station (truck stop) I some time fill at, yesterday was $1. 89 9 this afternoon noticed it was $1. 95 9. Cheap compared to what some are paying, but still hurts. :( I really don't see why anybody would want a new HD diesel truck with the prices the way they are now, unless you have to have it for work purpose's. Pleasure trips I don't even count, because that is something we can control.

$2. 50 a gallon today. Reg is still under $2. 00 Sad to say but I'm thinking about parking the ol Ram for a while. Would never get rid of it but I dont need it to get back and forth to work. Am looking for another street bike, (sold mine last year) or a little Toyota truck for the work commute. At least I will be saving miles on my truck. Sure would like someone who really knows explain the real reason diesel is so high.

Filled up yesterday at the Shell in Londonderry, NH $2. 079. Went by today on the way to Cracker Barrel and the price was $2. 139. Glad I got it yesterday.
