Anyone know exactly how to get the historical data from specific gas stations on Gas Buddy or some other information site.

What I would like to look at is the last few weeks of pricing at our local stations.

While demand is at a extreme low, I have personally seen fuel deliveries and not a +/- 1 cent change in many weeks at IMO 5 stations on my way to work.

How is it possible 5 stations have not changed their pricing in weeks even when I have seen the trucks deliver and wondered if the price would change the following day?

I thought the tax was paid at time of fuel drop, so if we are supposed to pay a certain Tax that number is now way off based on current fuel prices? I'm guessing its just money in their pocket, but for the folks working in Healthcare and critical worlds they could use the extra bucks in their pockets for what they risk.

Personally I think there should be a more utility based approach to pricing where you pay for delivery and use. That could stabilize the trucking and refinery costs an maintain quality of life for that industry, then the product costs would vary, just like solar, wind, natural gas turbines, it would not be much different except for all the hidden made up fees the utilities charge us all now.

Not going to happen, but I'm more curious about how the heck these 5 places are in cahoots. Or did I make this all up.

I know the one place has had the same darn price for a while because their sign was broke and one side said .879 for regular and the other said 1.879 for regular for a few days. So it stood out when you went past that it appears to be way sub $1.

I don’t know about your state but here in RI the State tax is per gallon not a percentage of sale price. Same for Federal all over the country, by the gallon. Other than that I have seen a 40 cts per gallon difference in both diesel and gas within a 15 mile radius.

Yeah we are in NJ and its a 59 cents diesel a d 44 cent unleaded spread in 8-10miles.

But I don't see how to tell the historical data.

Probably right on the taxes it's per gallon, so was off base on that part.

I think there should be a base price don't think we should see sub $1 fuel. Just odd it has not changed.

Today drove again passed the same 5 stations twice, one went down from 2.01 to 1.99 for unleaded, Diesel unchanged.

Guess it does not matter, I stop when needed and try to limit the number of trips. Usually need to fill up every 3 days depending, I get about 5hr or 6hr of driving to a tank.

Gave up on MPH a while ago.

I shook out gas buddy’s website, and they only have statewide averages.
I don’t know Tim, I buy both fuels in NY and NJ. I’ve never seen gasoline actually cheaper in NYC than NJ and Diesel at the usual spread of about .40-.50 cents less in NJ. I guess Murphy is really giving “it” to us! Diesel really hasn’t budged a bit in NYC since the shutdown happened.

On any given day these places are cut throat and would shave 1/2 a mill to screw the other station, its been crickets for weeks on price changes.

Talk about flatten the curve.

I actually think that they should add .25 cents a gallon now while it low and no one on the road.

Was way off on my original post on the tax portion I must have thought it was a percentage of the price. Not tied to the gallon.

Also think the folks making out are not the people physically working the pumps in NJ, or the tanker drivers making the fuel drops.

NJ has metrics in place that tie the amt of fuel taxes collected to future increases. We missed those numbers the past few years. We know it's all going up here very shortly.

Its like when you see those videos of the Sunami where the tide pulls back and the people run into the bay to check it out how eerie it is, but all the land animals are running opposite because they know whats coming.....

Just was an odd observation that nothing has moved for weeks, but trucks keep coming.

Im just waiting for wash state to say "look, gas is really cheap". Lets raise the gas tax to save the planet. No one will know.
You mean to refill the coffers that had accumulated a $1B+ surplus in "tax" revenues, and would not even consider returning it to the people as suggested, which the coffers now suffer from CoVid-19 related event by now having to redirect funds they were going to spend on pork-programs elsewhere against the wishes of the fleeced? Gotta make up the fleecing "loss" somehow.

Well, thats what they would actually do. But their plea to the sheep would be it is to save the planet.

I think my 18 2500 gasser is like a little over 25gal if I run it down to the less then 10mi to go, not sure how accurate that thing is, most I've put in is little over 25 gal, put 23.xx gal today in it for around $44 bucks. $1.89

Prices still holding the same at all 5 stations. I'll just take the savings either way. They still need to move alot of fuel to turn a decent profit. Hopefully they are passing some on to the workers for having to deal with the public.

Tim, outside of NJ, there’s not much dealing with the public. There’s a lot of self serve out here, and that effects price too. The cheapest gas around here was 1.85 just went to 1.9X and that’s self serve of course.

Wow.

We are $1.63 for ethanol and $2.1X for ethanol free, both of the 87 flavor.

Yeah thats what I think to, It could be cheaper in other places but in our case only one station in town carries the Non Ethanol and its been the same price for as long as we've been using it.

Paid $.99 cents per gal of 87 at Kroger market station when we used our bonus points.

So 4 out of the 5 stations, 4 are still where they were, going on like 6 weeks. Only one has changed a little went -2, cents, now +4.

There is now a 6th station in the mix on the same route, it was a station that had pumps and was operating up till maybe 2 years ago and they just reopened 2 cents below the cheapest of the other 5. But have not seen one vehicle there yet. No way I would fuel up there, its an odd station and it sat for so long, I'm not familiar what the process is when these places close up and reopen that far apart, no work was done and its the same no name station and colors, I'm only guessing they got back in because they can make some decent money or maybe were contacted by a past supplier and got a good deal.

Either way, its never been the physical price, just the rate of change and lack there of.

Keeps me busy while driving to work is all.
