To clarify a little Matt...

-This is a white or black face digital gauge.

Yes, you can order either one.

-Rail pressure/oil pressure combo

Yes

-Comes with oil pressure transducer (I assume you screw it a port in the top of the oil filter?)

Yes

-Has the proper plugs to unplug/replug in factory rail pressure harness.

No, however the cabling will run out to the OEM transducer location. I will try and clarify the type of end it will have, possibly a universal pigtail.

Would you be so kind as to post or PM me a ballpark price?
I just called and they didn't have a price established yet here in the US so maybe I posted too soon but its orderable, I will follow up again tomorrow.

Matt Any chance of getting this in fuel/fuel like you originally talked about?

If not, will the oil sender work for fuel?

oil senders and fuel senders are the same. very robust too. Turns out that the low-side fuel pressure is very pulsy and I am told that not many senders will stand up to it for long periods of time. But yea, I put the SPA pressure sender on the CP3 (with 3 ft of snubbing hose) and it works fine. you just have to get the averaging set right because the SPA gauge is too fast.

Dunno about the OP sensor working on the fuel side, I will ask.

They are not making a special face plate for this application, what they are doing is assembling a 217 with a 215 face plate and deleting the boost transducer from the kit so you are not paying for something you don't need.

You could open up the gauge and drop in you own "custom face plate" but then you would be your own warranty station.

UPDATE:

They will include a universal tail that will plug into the SPA harness that will allow you to splice into whatever kind of end you have on the truck. This will allow for many different connections, for example with a VA box you could splice into the VA harness down at the ECM or up at the transducer if using a box there.

Getting them the OE transducer connector and building it to match their cannon plug would add more to the cost and as it stands now the cost will come in less than a DG217.

I put a PM into Steve on how to work the group buy. . we may have to start a new thread for that dunno just yet. At this point a group buy will get much better pricing vs calling them direct because you will have to pay the same price for a regular 217 gauge. Hang tight everyone.

Let's get a set of rail pressure plugs in on the group thing also. Even if it's not in the harness I can make my own if I have the plugs and know which wires to tap.

I received an email reply from Quad stating that he would be willing to make us a batch of plugs but we will need a sufficient quantity to make it worth his running the mold machine. I have no idea how many that is but it's a place to start. Now the question is does SPA strike a deal with Quad or should one of us take it upon ourselves to make the investment and redistribute them as a "kit" for use with the gauge?

The deal with SPA took some work that involved the ok and engineering in the UK where they are made, once that was all done I had to negotiate a price with SPA here in the USA. Trouble is they had their own agenda on pricing to protect their distributors which is understandable. . so for my efforts I got a good price and want to extend that to everyone else. I didn't really want to become the vendor but guess thats ok if I need to. Steve should let me know how the group buy is suppose to work soon.

I will send a PM to quad and see if he wants in the gauge business that way he could package the connector ends in the kit or even attach them to the connector.

If Quad wants to be a distributor that would be cool. Looking forward to seeing some kind of deal fly

I got the ok from Steve on how to set up the group buy in the classifieds section.

Doing it that way... what each of you would do is contact the vendor direct for the "group buy" pricing so I will see if SPA will allow my price on this one time group buy.

I am going to guess pricing would be lower than any vendor could get but I could be wrong. Quad has not answered back yet on if he wants in as a vendor. Doing it that way would mean he would have to buy the gauges for resale at whatever price they would give him. The connector would be nice but I think anyone that can install a SPA could splice one from Quad onto the pigtail supplied in the kit.

More good news

Tomeygun said he will be a vendor for the connector and will get with Quad on those. A simple Female - Male connector that is currently used on their box attached straight through on all 3 wires with an extra tail on the center wire will facilitate connection of the rail pressure channel.

Sign me up for one Tomeygun!

Good work team! Let's make this happen!

Matt, how tough is it to change the face in these things? If it's not too tough I may be in for a couple more

-Scott

I have not changed out a face yet, getting a replacement face is super tuff and has to come from SPA UK because the gauges are not assembled here. To change one looks like you need to pry back the tabs that retain the trim ring & glass. They did say that would kill the warranty.

I would think someone creative on a PC could make up one to read whatever they wanted.

I should hear from SPA USA tomorrow about the group buy and then will be able to post a price. Buying the modified gauge should be well under the standard version plus you will get to keep your warranty and have a harness tail to work with.

Thanks for the info. I asked because I'm also interested in a boost pressure/drive pressure gauge but I assume I would have to make my own face to have it labeled as such.
