By coincidence mine just failed on my 06 dually with 34,500 miles. The CHECK ENGINE light came on 2 weeks ago, code P0145 and dealer said it was a fuel problem... but nothing specific. They reset it, 2 days later it is on again, dealer calls DC and DC says replace this Fuel Pressure Valve. It is set to go in Monday, and tonight coming home from work it idled rough but ran OK, gauges OK, no smoke, all is normal. Smelled diesel, pulled into my garage and left idling while I looked at engine. Everything OK but strong smell of fuel. Looked underneath and BAM... heavy mist and drops of black coming out of my draft tube! SHUT OFF ENGINE. I checked dipstick, it was 3 times past the normal point. The BAD VALVE MUST HAVE SHUT, NO EXCESS FUEL GOING TO TANK, and all excess fuel SOMEHOW ENTERED MY CRANKCASE. HOW? By the way I had just filled up fuel 2 days ago, and fuel gauge usually stays on F until 80-100 miles. NOW IT HAS 67 miles since fill up and tank is just above 3/4!
Yes, it will be towed to dealer. HOW DID ALL THIS FUEL GET INTO CRANKCASE?
