Greig, not at all. Tank is tilted slightly back from the outlet so any water goes to the other end, there is a drain there. Every time I've opened it no water has come out. Also have a Goldenrod filter/water separator on the outlet, change 2x a year. I go though 500-800 gallons per month during the growing season, keeps things rotating with a fill up every 2 weeks. I only buy #2,use additive that I put in for the cold times, was using Standine for many years, now have switched to Power Service easier to get and I like it better.
Another thing I've done is since I have a compressed air line running right to the tank area is install an air line with a pressure regulator set at 5 psi to the tank vent. There is a stop and waste ball valve to let the air in,to replace the fill nozzle to it's holder you have to close the valve which then releases the air. Before the tank was gravity flow and slow, with the air pressure I can fill a Ram from E to full in about 2 minutes, fill nozzle has auto shut off. An auto shut off nozzle won't work with gravity, fuel pumps are pricey so this was the best mod for me. Before with gravity the fill up was so slow that my tractor operators would look for something else to do while waiting and since an auto off nozzle wouldn't work we were getting overflows and scrambling operators,no more.
I wouldn't try this with gasoline, could be dangerous. My fuel delivery guy saw this and recommended it to other Ag customers, many are now using it.
