Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Fuel Solenoid eats tach and spedo?

My Brother-In-Law had his fuel Solenoid go bad in his 97 the other day. He rigged it up so the truck would run, but the truck will not go onto O/D, no tach, no speedo... . He is stuck about 3 hours from here any Ideas?

Sounds like it isnt the solenoid... hope he didnt order a replacement.



Could be the crankshaft sensor. . that could shut down the PCM. Have him check the 3 wire plug below the alternator/belt tensioner. .



Also, try cleaning the battery contacts. If the PCM doesnt 'see' good voltage, it can do strange things. .



mebe try stopping at auto zone or something and get them to hook up a scanner. . might shed some light

Tell him to check the "engine" fuse in the fuse panel. Mine is fuse #9.

It provides power for all of the functions you say are not working.
