2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Fuel Tank Module P/N 4897668AF

I've recently posted a thread here about a fuel leak I have. Unfortunately it's not the result of a loose fitting but the metal tubes where the fuel lines connect have rusted through. The dealer indicates that whole Fuel Tank Module needs to be replaced to the tune of $475 for the part only. Another approx $500 for labor. I have 2 questions.

1. Are there other sources where Fuel Tank Modules can be purchased new for less $$$.

2. If I replace this module would it be worthwhile to also install a large draw straw.

That I don't know, but this same task is on my to-do list this summer, along with replumbing the entire fuel system while everything is apart. I don't have a leak so much as I have weep. The side of my tank is wet, but I never see a puddle or spot in my driveway. That and I'd like my fuel gauge to work correctly, sooner or later I'm am going to miscalculate my mileage and get caught on the side of the road. So I am watching this thread closely.

Yes. The draw straw will do supply and return out of the same hole on top of the module.



Draw Straw I 1/2 in. draw tube and 1/2 in. pushlock fitting



Just make sure to cut the slash on the straw at the bottom of the module.

I did pick up a module on ebay for 50. 00 Remember there was alot of these intank pump conversions done so there are some late model modules out there.

I have the top half of a module if you want it. It appears that the two fuel lines can be removed. Pay shipping.
