:( Help,

I'm trying to get the plug off of the top of the fuel tank so I can remove it. I got the fuel lines unplugged but I can't figure out how to unplug the plug. I can just barely see it.

Thanks---Gambler

If I remember correctly since it was about a year ago that I did one, I think there's a red locking blade that's pushed through the connector. You have to remove the blade by using a pick or small slotted screwdriver, then push the locking tab down and pull the connector off.

The connector is weather tight, so it's gonna take some effort. Try using a stubby screwdriver and push straight down on the locking button on the very top of the connector, while wiggling it and pulling with the other hand.

Hey,

I finally got it off by removing the red locking tab and pushing from the rear of the plug with a small screw driver. What a b--ch.

Thanx for your tips.

If it is like the other weatherproof plugs I have seen on my pickup, you remove the red clip, then there still is a secondary lock you have to depress to be able to unplug it.

What does it look like now that you have it apart?

I had little trouble with the plug, but the real PITA was the fuel line next to the plug. I could not get the quick connect squeezed far enough for it to let loose. I ended up coming in from the driveshaft side, squeezing up in beside so I could get my hand in that way, then have my girlfriend reach up and pop to line off... I installed the new vent hose mod yesterday and immediately went to fuel up. The tank was on fumes and the pump did not click off till I had 35. 9 gallons in. I was only able to top off with another 3/4 gallon. MUCH better than getting 25 gallons in , then dripping in the next 10 gallons over 15 mintues. I was in and out, completely full in under 5 minutes. Well worth the price of the kit.

I finally got the tank out and siphones all the fuel out before installing the new vent line.

After the tank was re-installed, I put in 10 gal. and drove to (10 miles)the gas station and filled up. Aboiut 4 or 5 minutes and I had almost 31 gal. in for a total of 41 gal. !!

I'm gonna like that.
