Hey guys,
I did a search, but couldn't find a thread that matched this problem. I'm hopeful that someone in TDR land has seen this happen before and can give me some pointers before I take it in for service.
The wife and I were returning from NC yesterday. We were on I-84 in CT, running solo on flat highway with the engine turing 2,000 rpm and the autopilot on. What happened next, happened so fast that I almost didn't catch it.
The Fuel Warning icon on the dash flashed on, the single tone (bell, boing or whatever you want to call it) sounded indicating low fuel and the tachometer droped to zero rpm. In the blink of an eye the light went off and the tach returned to 2,000 rpm. There was no real drop in engine revs, just the gauge itself that shut down for a moment and I had almost 1/2 tank of fuel. If I hadn't been doing my usual scan of the instrument cluster I would have missed everything but the single tone.
When we stopped for a 10-100 at the Sturbridge rest area on I-90, I triple hit the ignition sequence to bring up any codes that might have been thrown, but all the display said was, "done". No check engine icon and no codes.
This 04. 5 has been a jewel so far. Close to 30K miles and no problems what-so-ever, except for this little glitch.
Anyone ever seen this before? Is there a fix?
Thanks to all you good oil-burners for your help.
Mike
