I am in the prosess of changing head gasket on mmy truck abought ready to fire it up while the head was off I took the limiter caps off to get the collar off the fuil screw I had to take it all the way out. How many turns in puts it in the stock pos. ? I am at 15 turns in I think I counted right Havnt started it yet will do that tomorrow If I am in the wright pos I will turn it in 1 more turn any body know ????

thanks

How many turns is really hard to say. If you counted correctly coming out, and have gone in the same amount you should be close.

If you remember what your idle was pre-repair, then use that to help determine if you are close. If you've gone in any significant distance PAST the original setting you'll likely see a higher idle speed.

That can be one way to determine if you are "in the ball park" so to speak.

Also let me strongly suggest the following..... get yourself a piece of plywood, or what ever, just something large enough to cover the intake of the turbo. No need to mentiong this I suppose but... . DO NOT USE YOUR HAND !!!!!

You should do your initial startup with the airfilter inlet tube OFF the turbo connection. If your settings are way out of wack you could possibly have a runaway condition. If that happens then use the piece of plywood to cover the inlet to the turbo. That will starve the engine of air and stop the runaway.

Also, when the truck is finally running and you see that you have a suspiciously high idle, try 'burping' the throttle. If that results in the idle slowly decreasing to a more normal level, then you are very close to having the full fuel screw in far enough for runaway.

Just be prepared is all... .

If you still have the collar ,you should be able to place part

of it against the screw ,where it was located before it fell off.

It won't be exact but, it should give you an idea how far in the

screw is. You can fine tune it from there.
