Competition First races for the 98'

i PREVIOUSLY PULLED THE SLED 226FT IN MY "01 2500 4X4 WHICH WAS BASICLY STOCK EXCEPT FOR STRAIGHT PIPE AND K&N AIR FITER,SUSP LIFT 36" MUDDERS. SINCE THEN, I HAVE ADDED TST POWERMAX 3 (120HP) AND BULLY DOG STAGE 2 INJECTORS (80HP) HAVEN'T TRIED PULLING THE SLED SINCE THESE TWO ADDITIONS. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS ON HOW MUCH FARTHER I SHOUD BE ABLE TO GET NOW? iS A FULL PULL A POSSIBILITY?? DOES ANYONE HAVE THIS COMBO ON THEIR TRUCK? ANY FEEDBACK WILL HELP. THANKS!

Under the same conditions you pulled under before it will either pull better, pull worse, or break something. Power is only part of the equation, there are a lot of times when the guy that wins did not have the most power. You may have enough power now to get violent hopping, which will cut the pull way short or break something or both. You may be able to drive out the other end too. Setup and driving ability are the biggest factors IMO.

You have enough power now to blow your clutch, or your auto, and if they hold, your spider gears, yoke, axles, u-joints.

But yes, you have enough power , with the proper track and sled settings, to take it down town.

And how is your evening going now? LOL!:D

most of the lifted trucks with that big of tires that i have seen pull end up throwing the rear drivashaft off. unless you have some good traction bars to locate your axles you will only break parts. kurt.

dpanagos,

My take on sled pulling is not all that different from drag racing. If you don't have the horsepower you are only going to win if the other guy fails to produce. However, if you have the big horsepower, you are only going to win if you can hook to the track, drive properly and keep the truck together. Competition is what it's all about. Use your new found horsepower wisely and you will do well ;), Larry

EGT's

Don't forget to address your exhaust temps. What are they running now with all that fuel? Think turbo replacement.

Dieselfreak,

I'm just as curious as you. Last year I was about stock. And now I have a little more to play with about the same setup as you, (lift and large tires). I keep wondering if I should take the lift off of the truck. I dont know if this would help me hook better or not. Maybe someone else will chime in with more info.

dlange---It's hard to tell if you will have problems or not-- you're treading close to where I started having prob's with almost the same setup as you--only diff is I had Bullydog 5's, a B1 turbo and traction bars----chris

I'm planning on hooking to a sled for the first time in July in the street class in Cynthiana KY. I'm hoping that I can make a complete (not full complete) pull without having to clutch it for hopping or without breaking something.

dlange--I think it helped me from breaking u-joints or yokes a few times, but they were really weren't the right set up (L&L Ladder bars)---they had 4" u-bolts around the axle and when the HP went up the probs arrived---hopping that is--seems the axle could rotate enuff to cause me fits-in fact I'm still working to fix that prob(L&L's are gone)--make some solid blocks to mount where the rear bump stops are--give yourself the amount allowed for travel by the people in charge---this may be 0" or 1" or 2" of travel-----now there may be front end issues also, but do the ladder bars first and go and play and then report back----chris
