the only thing I can think of is possibly your sender wire is faulty or would that read empty?

gtsm, here's a good one for you ;my friend took his '99 in for warranty on the same thing, the service writer went over and gave the tank a big kick. It worked!Told him not to fill the tank up all the way into the neck as per owners manual. Manual says two automatic nozzle shut offs,no more. Service writer said if it happens again to kick it or hit with a rubber mallet.

This is BS to me,Dodge knows full well that their senders are junk. What if you have a full tank and are going downhill, the fuel is going to come up in the neck.
Maybe for the 2002 Dodge will include a rubber mallet and holder under the fuel lid.
Try kicking it and see what happens. #ad

Hi, I'm a new member and I just saw your entry about the fuel guage problem. I have a 99 diesel and I just had the same problem. I was first told that there was nothing wrong. After I asked for s second opinion, the shop foreman checked with the and found that it is a known problem. The dealer ordered a new feul tank module and replaced it. The only thing the dealer asked was not to bring in the truck till the tank was almost empty because they have to drop the tank. It takes about 1. 5 hours and it was done under warranty.
