Off Roading Gateway gumbo mudders

Here is another issue I had, with the bars set, shocks set, 4 tie down straps, truck chocked ect on the final runs it was shaking the tires. It wasn't real bad but you can see it in the graph also... ... it's a little jittery. The tire shake usually only happens on the road at WOT.

How much tire pressure were you running?? Considering the loads youare putting on tires (strapping down so hard, etc), maybe run them up to 80psi if you are still running the E-rated tires.

Dropping down a size (i. e. 265 to 245, etc) will also help eliminate shake. So will switching to a lower-profile tire.

You probably need some phat 20" rims with spinners and sticky low-pro tires.

Yea Dawg, spinners would be too cool on the grandpa truck! I got several comments on the stock mud flaps too, chic's dig it!

I usually run the tire pressure at 45 for traction so maybe I should try it at 60-70.

David I had a set of 28-10-16 Hoosiers mounted and waiting but he wouldn't bite.

And no I'm not joking they were on standby. I actually knew that he wouldn't get on the track but I brought them in case we had any traction problems on the dyno.

Nice numbers Jim. Time for some slicks on that thing and a pass or two. ;)

My thoughts as well. Time to try the 1320 ft dyno.

As for traction, hooking Jim's truck up would be tough to do. 2wd, light rear end. . hmm.

I'd just break down and 4-link it. Then tub the back, because no tire small enough to fit in the stock wheelhouses could even hope to hold Jim's truck.

Methinks Fulmer needs to discover the wonders of a line lock, big slicks, and weight transfer:) 20psi launch in 2wd!! YEEHA!

Wes, good thinking with the "just in case" slicks.

Jim, the least you could do is make a pass with slicks in vallet :) Did you get any numbers in vallet?

Jonathan

No valet numbers this time, you would definately have to come out of the hole in valet.

Scott, I can see it! Here is your tax dollars at work :)

I'm sure the wheels are already churning for the next dyno event

Wheels are in motion.

RE: More Horse Power

We can help you go up, you just say GO! We have a lot of ideas. I'm sure you do too. I just can not quit thinking about your success and where the next 130hp will be gained. Next time I will be there. You guys can't have all the fun. Thanks

Hey Jim, are you coming down to Houston for the Diesel Drags next month, as well as the pre party at Diesel Innovations?? It would be nice to see ya, since I had to work this past weekend! All I got was an update when you were coming off the rollers after the 1st couple of runs, going to change out DV's... I had to wonder and wait all the way to Lafayette, LA, and still never got a call back from Andrew. . I finally got results when I got back on here Mon. . Oh well, hope to see ya in Houston in a few weeks!

Jim your hard work is paying off again, It own't be long and you will be making even higher numbers. Good Luck and Have Fun.
