I have checked fuse #16 for voltage and it is Ignition On and Accessory Hot. The wiring schematic for the Fuse Block shows it as Spare. I am loaded except for Power Seats and Trip Computer. Is #16 used for these options, if not what is? #ad

Thanks

I was wondering the same thing! Looking for a good spot to land some Bombing parts and needed fused power. Looking at the "Manual" there seem to be several "spare" fuse locations as well as a least one relay location. what do these "spares" feed? #ad
Anyone have any better info?

Ahh The # 16 is the dodge truck in transit (Key Off Battery Drain) fuse if memory serves me correctly I read it in the BIG Book. It was designed to blow if key off voltage drain is present durring transit from factory to dealer and is removed during P. D. I I will check in a few minutes.

New Vehicle Preparation 36-7

The assembly plant has shipped ALL vehicles with the interior lights and most electronic memories non functional by way of an Ignition Off Draw (IOD) fuse removed. The purpose is to reduce the possability of battery run down during shipping and storage. Vehicles after prep should have the fuse pulled to prevent drain.

In my eyes bigdaddy if this fuse is replaced it will activate a central disconnect located inside the central timer under the dash. I for one would not use it and go by an add on trminal box and mount her under the bonnet. This above I pulled out of the big book bible word for word (no typos)

The Ignition-Off Draw fuse is fuse cavity #12 on your model year 2000 Ram.

Fuse cavity #16 is a spare. One side of the cavity is connected to the ignition switch run and ignition switch accessory contacts. The other side of the cavity is not connected to anything.

SAE Book #2 Has a Typo Checked the book against my rig this morning and you are correct #12 is the IOD! Cought 'em red handed. Calling publisher today to let 'em know. BR/BE 8W-97 Power distribution (iod) disconnect from junction box cavity#12.
the above is found in a different section (go figure)

Thanks for the responses.

I would have thought it was used in some other configuration, but guess not.
Sure was nice of DC to give us some room for expansion.
I am going to use this slot to power the relay on my Painless Wiring and get rid of that cheesy fuse tap that comes in the kit.
