I just finished my g56 conversion. It fit great with no bodylift The only real modifications I had to do was notch the crossmember and get new drive lines made. I will try to attach some pictures.

please pics and details as i may be doing this soon as well! did you keep the 5spd bell and transfercase??

The transfer case was reused but the g56 is all one piece Trans and bell housing, the through out bearing fork is the same on the g56 as is the nv4500

Hear is the modifications

1. use southbend flywheel and clutch kit with heavy duty hydraulics for factory equipped g56 trucks

2. notch cross member 1” to clear floor

3. make new transfercase shift rod out of all-thread and bend shifter bracket to clear transmission

4. change drive line lengths

The only thing that I have not figured out yet is how to adapt the reveres light indicator plug in

Price was $2000 for Trans used with 5,300 miles south bend ofe cutch with hydraulic upgrade and flywheel $1,400 maybe another $150 for some other parts but over all it was no big deal. My brother and I did the whole swap over the weekend. Every thing shifts great with no vibrations I have put about 100 miles on it so far

Which stock # clutch did you use? No problem getting it into 1st or 2nd at a complete stop? Thanks, nice job.

Nice Job KKuntz, I was wondering about dropping the crossmember a bit when you said the floor would need modded. Nice to know it is only an inch, that is easily livable. Nice Job, Time for me to start saving my $$ for a G56.

Thanks!!!!!!!!, I think I'll Keep my 99 for another 200,000, At least!

Just know that your new transmission uses ATF+4, nothing else. Some people have been told that "the 2005 6 speed uses 5W30 Synchromesh TF" which was true of the early 05s with the NV5600.

i have put on about 6000 mile since my conversion and every thing has been great its like the truck came from the factory with the g-56

What is the front and rear driveshaft length again for the NV4500 to G56 swap again, I looked in the other posts, Remember reading it somewhere but could not find. Anyone know?

Thanks
