Considering the Bakken

She did not give you a coverage figure as it varies depending the finish. For example the ceiling paint covers 400 to 450 sq ft per gallon. The eggshell finish is 400 to 450 as well depending on the nap of the roller.

She would advise a 3/8 nap roller on both the ceiling and walls. Will help hide any imperfections and gives a great finish.

Muresco is flat enough that you can easily get away with a 1/2" nap roller. Use a lambs wool cover. It costs more, but holds more paint and saves time. Definitely a 3/8 woven cover for Regal Aquavelvet. One warning though, is with eggshell finish it is very important to keep a "wet edge", or you will get horrendous lap marks where you roll back into it, or "picture framing" if you cut everything in, and then go back and roll. Ben Moore, S-W(top grade, not ProMar), or Muralo are good products. Chain store paint is a waste. Also, make sure you look at the batch codes to minimize mismatch, and "box"(intermix) product as you go. Muresco is especially bad for batch to batch variation, so be careful.

Ahhh, another painter. They are everywhere!!!!:D

She says the proper way to do that ceiling is with staging, then you roll it in two directions.
That was her method on the last cathedral ceiling and it came out perfectly.

To help hold a WET edge mix Flotrol in with the paint. It will not dis color the paint I use it whether I roll or spray

I was a Ben Moore, Muralo, Coronado dealer before we moved West.

Hi. This is Mikes wife here, how cold is it in Montana about Nov 1st? I love to fly. I keep telling Mike I am planning on turning into a traveling painter. Had a couple chances last year, but our little dog prevented me from doing so. Your home is beautiful! I agree you need to keep the white ceilings. That's such an important visual to your room. I really love Ben Moore Muresco ceiling white it has minimum splatter and great coverage. It also is a true white in color. Makes your ceiling look soft. For your walls I would recommend Ben Moore Regal Eggshell it has a little bit more sheen than the cashmere finish. And I don't mean shine, just a tiny bit more washable/wearable. One color paint I would recommend is Sherwin Williams Jersey Cream (SW7004) would look great with your wood trim, and stone work. Have use this color many times, and every time my customers have been pleased. It's a color that warms up a room, without taking over. The Ben Moore is pretty true coverage square footage, so the easiest way to calculate is to measure each wall. The front wall you can pretty much look at it, and decide if you think it's 2/3rds windows. Multiply height by length, then devide by that. Hope any of this is helpful. If you have questions let me know. Sandy

November day temps will still be in the low to high 30's but well below as soon as the sunsets. Gail just pointed out the fact that your in Maine? you should have no problems Ha Ha Ha. Thank You its where we hang our hats, its quiet and we love the home and area this is where I grew up until Gail and I Married it was always our plan (mostly his obsession) to return he is an avid outdoors-men cold or not.

The washable will be a Godsend Not only for My Big Baby but we now have 3 Grandchildren one that's in his terrible 2's and two almost a month old. Gail isn't so bad until he turns into the WWW Wrestling Champ with Zachary the two year old, Zachary is the 2 year old, I sometimes wonder about Gail?

Mike gave me the color of Jersey Cream I looked at it on-line but its pretty hard to tell with computers all different, I will look at that and the other Brands and Colors that you mentioned along with your suggestion on the ceiling paint and color, My Mother and I didn't think that I wanted to change the ceiling maybe just a different white like you said

I have been looking at the Sherwin Williams site and they have a coverage calculator on the site

This is something that Gail was wondering about, when it was painted originally it was sprayed on with an airless sprayer at that time there wasn't any flooring or woodwork, so it was not a problem. When we got home from our retirement trip Gail put up the doors and trim, tiled the floor in the mud room/ laundry and some wood flooring in his den. The family members that built the house knew how picky Gail is about these things so they figured, HE'S RETIRED HE NEEDS SOMETHING TO DO!!

Sandy & Mike we would like to thank you so much for your help

Penny and Gail

Thank You All for your words of wisdom, Gail is not a painter he will do most anything with a smile but he truly hates to paint so all of these tips will be a BIG help.

Thanks Again

Mike is there a name brand of roller your wife would recommend? and a type and brand of brush to cut in around the woodwork and corners. We went down and picked up the paint as per her suggestion it will look very nice. Ben Moore Muresco ceiling white & Sherwin Williams Jersey Cream.

BIG went and picked up some scaffolding for us to work on for the high places. He is going to guide hunters for about a month so while he's gone my Sisters and I get to do the painting. I knew!! that somehow he would find a way to sneak out and not have to do it.:-laf

Personally I just as soon have him gone, rather than hear him P*** and Moan about having to paint, its one thing that he truly hates.

Thank You

Penny

I will find out for you as soon as we all get home.

I know that decent brushes are a little harder to find nowadays.

Hi the wall roller is packaged for Ben Moore. 3/8 inch nap. Shed-resistant. Package says use with all paints. Ceiling rollers semi smooth 1/2" the brand name is home-pro they are a little harder to find. The brushes are packaged for truvalue stores in this area. Master Painter premium 100 percent polyester 2" angle trim brush the angle is a must have for cutting around ceiling and trim. These brushes are not really expensive. Here they go for about $8.00 each. I have had the best luck with these. Have tryed some of the expensive ones and haven't been very satisfied. Hope you have good luck with your project. Please send some pictures when your finished.
