They open just like normal and hold for a bit and then come crashing down on my melon, that hood latch hurts let me tell ya.
I just hate to go to the Stealership for anything!!
You can always order online from one of the Mopar Parts discounters...also, I have read that the struts from newer 4th gen trucks DO fit the older trucks and cost substantially less.
On another forum, more then several people have been using the newer struts with no problems for at least a couple years.
Here are the Mopar part#'s--

I looked there Bill but at $36.00 EA + shipping Id just as soon use the Redneck stick holding the hood up look. Rockauto has them cheaper than that and they are the same company and #'s that are on the Factory one's on the truck originallyI purchased my replacements from Geno's Garage. http://www.genosgarage.com/MOPAR-REPLACEMENT-HOOD-STRUT-03-09/productinfo/55276321AC/

I hate those strut thing a ma bobs. What ever happened to springs. Anything I ever had with those struts seemed like a constant problem. I never had to buy a new hood spring. Guess I just do not like change

. And BIG it might help if you remove that 100 lb Elk rack off of the front of your hood too.
Nice one Gary!!!
