Diesel in France

The oil companies may have an explanation. But on this one, my bet would be that the US gov tax as well as state tax on diesel helps to explain that

NO on the taxes, well except in WA State:-laf:-laf:-laf Diesel has not come down as much as gas because we (The United States) exports diesel and bio diesel to EUROPE, they (EUROPE) in turn exports gasoline to the United States#@$%!#@$%!#@$%!#@$%!#@$%!

Diesel down to $4. 49 from $4. 99, here in Auburn,Al. Gas down to $3. 67 from $3. 99. All prices gathered from local MurphyUSA(Walmart) and KrogerFuel.

Futures today show a difference of 33 cents between gas & diesel. Even allowing for slightly higher road tax on diesel the spread is too much.

Taxes

I just returned from France where diesel is less expensive than gas. I'm sure the oil companies have an explanation... .
Europe extends a 1. 50/gal break in taxesfor diesel. It has nothing to do with Big Oil. This way they only pay,$5. 00/gal tax on diesel. Such generousity. We pay $0. 62/gal. here in Ca.

Lincoln, Ne Diesel is down to $4. 45 from $4. 87 a few weeks ago. Gas is $3. 59. And by the way, I don't buy the arguement about people not driving as much and trucking still continuing on. I am good friends w/ several people that work at a large trucking co. here, Crete Carrier. Last summer, they had 200 loads a day they couldn't handle, not enough drivers, trucks, etc. In February, they had an excess of drivers, trucks, etc. to the tune of 200 a day. That's a 400 load a day swing, they have to be using WAY less diesel right now.

Oil topped $80 a barrel on the 13th of Sept of 2007 and on the 24th of Sept 2007 the average price for diesel in the states was $3. 03 a gallon and Gas was $2. 81 just to give you a way to gage how far oil needs to drop for diesel to get below $4.

Unfortunately winter isn't far away and when people start buying and using heating oil up goes the price of diesel regardless of the price of oil.

Holy Cow. I paid $3. 91 today for diesel! Regular was $3. 75. Back to reality for diesel fuel costs!

After having our diesel fill hoses stretched there for a couple of months, I won't be happy till it gets back to a realistic price of $2. 00 a gallon for what it's worth. $4. 00 a gallon  you all should be complaining. Get ANWR opened. Better late than never.

I am far from satisfied for sure $4. 31 here. The CEO of BP said the other day that "Diesel will NEVER be cheaper than gas ever again" I thought wow what an economist they have runnin that company. Its getting worse and worse to keep a hold of my truck.

By "reality". I meant that the price differential between diesel and regular gasoline has been substantially reduced. The same station 4 months ago had diesel exactly $1 more than regular.
