Gauge(s) Question

Im alittle confused here, I have a auto meter cataloge here

and im planning to buy a gauge set-up for my 06! Im looking

at the Phantom gauges and would like to go with Fuel Pressure

boost, and egt, my question is, What type of gauge (mechanical

or electrical) do i need for each one? The cobolt gauges i can

get all three electrical , and the phantoms it show fuel and pyro

as electrical and boost to match as mechanical! SO what do i

need to go with on each one?

the pyro has to be electrical however, boost and fuel pres can be both my personal prefrance is mechanical. good luck

What you want is the 5744 pyo, the 5705 boost and the 5760 fuel pressure. The Pyro and fuel pressure are elecrtrically operated, the boost is mechanical. The Cobalt/C2 offer both mechanical and electric boost gauges because the Cobalt/C2 use stepper motors which are small mini electric motors to operate the electric boost gauges, the Phantom series doesn't offer this. The stepper motors are very very accurate and fast reacting, but pricey as compared. Just a difference is the different lines they offer. We deal with Auto Meter everyday so we are pretty well versed in the operation etc.

Mark Craig, I am contemplating ordering the AutoMeter Phantom Series electrical oil pressure and oil temperature gauges for my '03. Where do you guys recommend mounting the senders for these gauges. I was going to use a brass "T" fitting on the top of the oil filter unless there is a better location. I had heard there was a oil port on the left side of the block above the ECM. Not to sound lazy but the top of the oil filter is easily accessible. Any thoughts from your folks perspective? Dave Hess

I haven't ever had anyone ask about installing these on a Dodge before so I really couldn't say one way or the other. The real bottom line is if it gets you into the pressurized side of the oil system it really doesn't matter and will work fine.

Thanks for the reply Mark, I really like the phantom gauges and will go with them! Mark with the pyro it being electric,will i have to tap into the manifold or where dose it read temp?

there is a pair of M10x1. 0 o-ring seal ports on the left side of the engine. one is above the ecm, and one is right behind/below the cp3 pump. . with a M10x1. 0 to 1/8" npt adapter you could mount an electrical sending unit right there, but it might be a very tight fit. better maybe would be to remote mount the sending unit with the same adapter and a piece of grease gun hose [18" or so] or use a M10x1. 0 to -4 jic adapter and use a premade hydraulic hose, or make one up your self [jic fittings = AN fittings]
