Combo EGT/Boost Gauges

I just got my new truck last week and was shown this site by a TDR friend. I've been researching for a while and found enough info on gauges to scatter my brain. I was thinking about getting Westach (sp) EGT/Boost combo, Fuel Pres, and a two Temp Combo for Trans temp and other for later use. Question : Is the boost/EGT combo confusing to any users? Just seems two needles in one gauge might be a little crowded.

I perfer to have the single gages, the two in one gages are just to hard to read, even worse at night. Also I would go with the Autometer line, just better in my opinion.

I have the Westach combo boost/egt gauge (put in three weeks ago). It took a little longer to read for the first week and a half. Now that I am used to reading the combo gauge, there is no problem. . I am completely happy with it. My vote is to go for the Combo gauge.

BTW, I also have the Westach 0-16 psi fuel pressure gauge put in. Used the Dual Pod gizmo to mount on the A-pillar. Have the tweeter speaker on the A-pillar and didn't not wanty the clutter of three gauges.

Good Luck

George

How does the fuel pressure gauge work? I. e. do you run a fuel line into the cab? It says "electrical" but the description doesn't clarify what the sender is. If you could give a description on how you hooked it up that'd be great.

Where'd you hook into the fuel system to read the pressure?

I'm about to place an order for one myself.

Have any pics?

Thanks!

I got the whole setup from Genos. My neighbor installed it. I also bought their 18" hose to run between schraeder valve by the fuel injection pump to the Westach sender unit. Thats as far as the fuel goes. Two wires from the sending unit run into the cab to the fuel pressure gauge. It's mounted on the A pillar along with the Boost/EGT in the Gauge gizmo pod. Got the matching spray paint from the local Dealer. Secured the Dual pod Gizmo with four trim screws to secure it

No problem reading dual gauges here. A quick glance to see needle position shows that all is well with fuel pressures. No need to read actual pressures. A conspicuous mark on the EGT gauge could make quick checks easier.

I am also debating the westach gage. I have the 03 with the grab bar. Only room for one gage with the grab bar installed, but I want to be able to read boost, egt and transmission temp. I haven't convinced myself that I like the xmonitor yet, looks funky to me. And I need the grab handle to get my fat *** into the truck!!! So I'm in a quandry as to which way to go. Only go with the dual westach and keep my grab bar, go with the xmonitor and keep the grab bar or go with the triple gage pod and lose my grab bar. What to do, What to do? John:D

No handle on the second generation trucks. Try helping yourself in with the steering wheel.

Westach Dual Gauages

I have the dual fuel, EGT/Boost, and dual temp Westach gauages on my triple A-pillar pod. Love the gauages and easy to hook up. I have the electronic ones also so there is no fuel line coming inside the truck. I have heard of some guys having problems with the electronic Westach fuel gauages but so far mine are ok (knock on wood).

I use the steering wheel on occasion just to see if I can do without the grab handle, I'm just concerned I will damage the steering column over time. I'm putting nerf bars on, hopefully, this coming weekend. That should help some. Thanks for the replies. John

Westach Combo Gauges

I've recently installed the exact set up first questioned. I like the Westach line. Triple mount with Fuel Pres. on top, combo boost/EGT in the middle, and combo trans/diff on bottom.

I also thought the dual gauge needles were confusing. I decided to disassemble the new combo gauges and paint the needles flat black except for the orange tip and 1/8" of white. I think this is a vast improvement now that everything is functional. Worth the time IMO.

Be careful not to mess up anything after the cover is off. They are very delicate instruments. I had to open up one gauge twice just to remove a hair that looked terrible when illuminated. Also make sure the inside of the glass is clean. Look at the illuminated gauge before spending the time to install it.

I chose red and decided to make all dash lights red. I have found the red conversion to be much more difficult than expected but I've about got it done.

I had forgotten about this thread... . then pop... there it is.

Well, just FYI

I went with the Westach Combo egt/boost on the A pillar and Westach fuel pressure 0 to 16 and dual temp gauge down below the dash. So there is only one gauge in view when looking forward. I like the dual gauges. Two readings with one glance.

The fuel pressure, transmission temp, and engine oil temp aren't gauges that I need to see at all times, so I didn't want to clutter up the dash with gauges. I really like the fact that I have 5 readings with 3 gauges, saves space and I don't have gauges all over the place. Btw, the fuel sender is in the engine compartment and no fuel in the cab.
