I've got about 15000 on mine now and, if I read the "B" maintenance schedule right, I need to change both diff's lube. I also read in there somewhere that it's supposed to be synthetic 90W. Has anyone out there done theirs yet and what fluid did you use? The schedule wants us to change the fluid at 15K mile intervals. I don't remember what the book said on my 2001 but that seems like a lot of changes to me, considering the use of synthetic lube.

Please tell me I'm wrong.

And, for "light duty" service, they don't mention axle lube changes at all. And for the 6 speed trans. , no mention of fluid change, ever. Really odd. So, I'm going to make up my own change intervals. I haven't decided what they will be. I only have 6,000 miles on the rig so I have time to make up my mind.

I think my book says 30k for diffs, never for 6 spd.

I had to do mine very early cause the dealer is an idiot. Book says 75W90 synthetic. I used Shell Spirax S 75W90 GL5. Just under 5 bucks a quart in 20 qt. pail. (I also will use it in Cherokee front and rear).

Maybe there is a difference in the schedule between the 2500 and 3500. I've read through my manual a couple of times and haven't seen anything about changing axle lube on light duty service.

I was impressed with how easy it is to do a fluid change on these. The reusable gasket and bolts that bottom out and cant be easily over tightened are a testament to good engineering.

Just completed my 15000 mile service today. Took about 5. 5 hours to: change engine oil/filter, front/rear axle, transmission fluid/install Fastcoolers.

The fluid that came out of both axles was silver. Especially the front axle! I cleaned out the covers and magnets carefully. Love those reusable gaskets!

A note for those who might install Fastcoolers: be sure to put the one with the temperature port on the PASSENGER side. If you don't, you can't remove the passenger side dipstick. Don't be a doofus like me. Now next time I change transmission fluid I have to swap the sides for the coolers.

Got mine done at 30,000, synthetic both ends, nothing to the 6 speed, synthetic change also in the transfer case
