Competition FCA mod done. Now I got a surge. Tho it woks well

Competition 990 hp on a VP44!

I remember the first time I saw Gene's truck in street trim (somewhere in Indy at a dyno event) It was the same day I saw his factory tach peg and 30+ psi (IN NEUTRAL)

Here is back in the day! Muncie 03' that was a hoot and the first real place I went to, what a party everynight in the parking lot..... no sleep!

Meet Gene there and got to see a bunch of new folks, BBD was on display(going home from his east coast visit) got to see Ed West (were is he now) as he was the only person not hiding his truck! Scheid truck pulled like a maddog..... it was the first Mod I got to see make a pull and I will never forget the sound of it on RPM..... still makes my hair stand up!

BOTW, that was a really good pull for Gene too, he competed in two different classes.

While we are being so retro there Jim...

How about an old underhood shot of your new truck... ... . Andy

YIKES!!!

I remember stirring up lots of trouble :-{} for posting that picture 4 years ago Hammer. #@$%!

LOL:-laf

Now that is just funny Andy that you know that, actually I have had the truck in my garage since May, it needs a motor.

Remember the picture I posted of the trashed 24V head and piston, that is were it is from. Since I have had that truck David has been listed as a sponsor of mine... ... Dave is one sharp dude and a good friend.

BOTW, I have all three turbos and one of the intercoolers in the house.

The turbos need a hard look via a local Turbonetics dealer/builder then they will be forsale, I had hoped to use the 66 and 88 in a Twin setup for the project with the liquid to air cooler between the two but there worth too much money and I'm short on that right now.

Jim

I am certain its a nice truck Jim. Davids attention to detail was amazing way back when. It was a very sharp truck that should have been able to see the light of day more often so others could have appreciated his hard work. It was too bad he had so many take advantage of him back then when he was building it. I knew where the pics came from when you posted them way back... ... Andy

P. S. -This new TDR software is sweet,no need to edit photos as it just resizes them all by itself.

I'll check that out when I get to my laptop. It still has everything like the raised back seat with the chrome N2O bottles, the controller on the 4x4 hump ect but it has had too many different people working on it so I have my hands full.

In the front it has the Spearco intercooler on the bottom and the smaller radiator and watercooler welded together with electric fans, this stuff will likely stay in place. The DTT transmission, Chrome ladder bars ect are still there too.

Those of you that are looking at this picture are probably wondering just how it was setup!

The top turbo is the T-88, the one below is the T-66 and the T-106 is in the rear about the same place as a normal bottom turbo would be on a set of Twins... ... by looking at the down pipe.

The main issue that David pointed out and I see too is the manifold is nothing more than a tube with tubes to each exhaust port going to it... ... ... I've seen others like this and they are no better than an ATS manifold.

The Flange is up close to the front, it goes into a pipe to the 66, way to far away..... no velocity! The gates feed the 88 and 106 much like a divorced twin setup. The Turbos were matched by Turbonetics and should work fine together but the process was all screwed up... ... . you have to drive on the small turbo and use the others to help it on the big end! At 4000 RPM it would still not spool.

I have no idea how the motor and pump were setup for driving but it had alot of pump and injector so fuel wasn't an issue.

My thoughts are like David's, how nice would it be to have 100 psi of boost at a really cool temp, add how ever much N2O you wanted and daily drive it.

When I am retired and rich enough I'll try this setup too, till then run a 66 version with a 90's mm version Twins and call it good enough.

Jim

P. S. Did I steal this thread... ... ... sorry Gene!

Just a few shots for you Andy! Yes it needs alot of clean up work too.

Jim...

I am well schooled in detail work and know how to get to New Castle. If you need a hand I'd be glad to help ya out. With the low miles on that truck I could imagine the shine already,LOL.

I am glad to see that truck finally in the hands of some one will make all those parts fly. It really is a nice truck and I still can not envision you in a 4wd... . Andy

If/When I can afford it I was thinking about a set of 20" rims with street tread on them, I like wheels and tires that Wes Snow (crawler) had on his 05" there nice and tucked in the wheel wells with the correct back spacing.

The bumpers ect are what I don't know about, I do want something different though.

Jim

Now you have one of my problems,LOL. I have been looking for the "right" bumper for the last 4 years. While there are many different styles out there I have yet to see any that even remotely have a style that when I see them I go,yeah thats the one. The one bumper recently I seen that I did like was Fab Fours,HOWEVER,during a conversation with them at the Carlisle "All Truck Nationals" last summer, they told me they have none for the 2nd Gen owners and are not going to be making any.

Same problem with the bed lids. One of my local shops started carrying "UnderCover" bed lids. They have a different look and have a very nice design and will be strong to handle the weather my truck sits in. When emailed directly they told me they have no lids to fit the 2nd Gen truck and will not be making any ever as their costs would not be recovered.

I never seen any Photo's of Wes's truck but have heard its nice. I like the larger wheel look if the backspacing is done correctly but many do not even give consideration to that. Good Luck with the truck as you do have a nice ride there..... Andy

Hey Jim, I know where that truck was and who was working on it. Some crazy hoot from Dallas (and I don't mean crazy hoot in a good way).

I did an o-ring job on my own truck right next to that truck at a shop in dallas the day before a dyno day.

Whew, what a time. I thought the truck was a huge mess of piping when I saw, however, the builder thought it was the best thing ever...

Merrick

One word classifies it! Idiot, I would not have even thought about doing it, I don't have the skills or knowledge and know I that.

The only thing good in the whole motor department is parts, the rest is going in the trash.

Keep in mind that this will be a... . sat 500-600 hp driver... . no barn burner here!
