Charlie,
I was going to do the same thing you speak of... Put a gauge in the airbag switch location on a 98. 5. Should be pretty easy to do, just have to move a switch and some wiring. Not a problem. I never did get around to doing it on my 98. 5, but I still got all of the parts to do it. My plan was to move the airbag switch to the 1999 and up location, and get rid of the power outlet. I was going to install a trans temp gauge in the spot where the 98's had the airbag switch. Geno's even sells a little bezel to use in there that will hold a gauge.
To do this project, you'll need:
***New airbag switch bezel
***New dash bezel
It should not be hard to do, provided the 98 airbag switch fits in the 99+ bezel plate. I got all the parts here... Email me if you are interested!
