Genos Turbo Timer on 04.5 question

Just took out the baffles and silencer ring, soooo nice to hear that turbo serenade me. Can't wait for my AFE drop in to get here. Also drilled a 2" hole in the bottom of the airbox---don't think it was needed but the hole saw was sitting around begging to be used.

Put a couple dabs of JB weld on the ring that holds the baffles in.

That oughta do it.

rfoust, I was thinking about JB weld but I couldn't find any in my garage, I RTV'd it, when that was cured I put 4 machine screws around the outside flange

I tried the Geno's unit and to me it had too much of a ringing pipe sound but a very well made piece. I ended up using the AirAid MIT found here...

Wow... All this talk and very little mention of the aFe Torque Tube.

I have that installed. Didn't really notice a performance difference but it does make the turbo sing.

does anybody know the sound difference between the torque tube and the moore coatings eliminator offered by Genos? I have the moore unit now.

I have gone back to the original black pipe/tube with the + cross inside. I used the Moore/Geno's eliminator for about 15 tanks of fuel. I have since run two tanks of fuel through the original piece. I thought the eliminator was hard on fuel mileage but did not want to comment until I had compared it to the original part. I have picked back up almost a mile per gallon putting the stock part back in. I will post again after another ten tanks. I think the + component of the stock part must be DC's answer to the laminar flow/efficiency issue.

PS. I made the change so I would not have to listen to the turbo for our 3k mile vacation trip. I don't think I'll go back to the eliminator.

Just an FYI. That pipe is not powder coated. It has a high temp, 1300f metallic ceramic thermal barrier coating on it. This is an insulating coating, ie;, you can hold your hand an inch or two away from a 1000f pipe and not burn your hand! Sorry, it's my baby!:D

So then does that mean it would just be a waste of time to wrap it with some kind of insulation? Something like that stick on underhood insulation.
