Dont waste time looking around for a muff shop to sell and install a SP on your truck. Drop the 110 bucks on Geno's, It may be 40 bucks more or so, but I would gladly spend that just so no one else is leaning up on and scratching my truck. I did my pipe in about 1. 5 hours. Easy easy. Muscle, and I do mean muscle the old one off, slip the new one on, tighten clamps, and grab some ear plugs. Don't do it unless you want about a 1 MPG increase

Have one on my truck and love it. The kit is easy once you get the muffler off and that is a pain. The exhaust pipe fits into the muffler on each end and you have to basically ruin the ends to get it off. Once it's off the rest is easy. It will be louder than stock but not by much and definitely sounds better and flows much more freely. I left the baffle in place when I did mine, it helps to knock down some of the exhaust noise. You will definitely get more whistle out of the pipe after you install it. I think it took a couple of hours to install the kit for me.

I know I'll get flamed but why would you want your truck to sound like a JohnDeere tractor pulling a plow out in the field



I get passed in my work semi pulling mountain passes all the time by no-muff trucks and I don't see the "cool" factor at all. Now a good performance system has a deep growl that sounds better. To each his or her own, sorry if I've steped on any toes

The M. E. K is not as loud as a straight pipe. Thats why I kept the baffle underneath. Mine is just a bit louder than stock, I had my 99 straight piped and hated it.

It's all about limiting restriction, baby! Open the exhaust, I also run a BHAF in the summer months. Not only does it sound like a logging truck, I am pulling mileage like that of a vehicle half my size. Trust me, for what I paid for it, you can be darn sure I want to raise eye brows and turn heads! :-laf The crotch rockets and rice burners with their coffee can mufflers aren't so tough anymore.

I put the kit on from Geno's, small bit louder [very small] but my egt dropped 100 degrees pulling my fifth wheel Jargo

I went to my local muffler shop.....





$20 for a straight pipe... took them about 15 mins.





I know the guy though, so that helped the price a little.













The sound is awesome. I chose to keep my resonator, so it's not too loud, but you can definitely tell the difference

I just did it myself. I bought 6 feet of 3 or 3. 5" pipe... whatever stock is.



Cut the stock pipe in front of the resonator, cut in back of the muffler... hauled that off to the dumpster.



Now the pipe comes in at the top of the muffler and exits the bottom, I believe. To run the straight pipe, you'd need to bend it.



Or I just cut the tailpipe at the bend and welded it back on so the end pointed straight at the pipe at the downpipe. Just a matter of welding the pipe up and that's is.



I think the pipe was around $50.

muffler eliminator pipe

I used the kit from "Geno's" but I also used the SS band clamps from Napa. Job went smooth, about 2 hrs on my back in the driveway. I noticed a drop in EGT's, plus a nice increase in noise( not really noise, but music to my ears) "Ironbutt"
