Picked my truck up from the dealer today. I took it in to have the oilpan gasket checked for leaks and have them check my inj. pump out. Its had a deadspot in the powercurve from about 1800-2100rpm's and at cruising speeds, even with the cruise control set, it had a surge to it. I could hear it, but couldn't feel it or see the tack jump around at all. So I changed the fuel filter before I took it in (old one actually didn't look to bad) so they couldn't tell me they replaced that and it seemed to fix it. Anyways, they tell me they checked it for codes and found a code for the lift pump that occured 65-70 starts ago. Is there even a code for the lift pump? Ofcourse the service manager couldn't even give me an actual number for the code. Then he tells me, since I had a full tank in it, they couldn't do a volume test on the lift pump cause that would cause inacurate readings! He told me to try again when I had like a 1/4 tank in it. Now how the hell does that make a difference? And get this, I asked him to look up whether the truck has ever had a lift pump or injection pump replaced under warranty ( I just bought it the end of January) and he says it actually shows that its never had any warranty work done! Its an 02 and has almost 78,000miles on it! And its never had either pump replaced! I couldn't believe that. So, I figure the inj. pump will probably wait to go out till after my warranty expires in July.
