Got a deer tag in Area 10 in Nevada. I haven't been there yet to scout and the tag is for the first two weeks in October. I'll only be able to get out the second week. I had shoulder surgery in July and am healing but haven't even been able to shoot yet! What a drag. I'll still be going and giving it my best shot.

That all anyone can do AMink just give a try and HAVE FUN is the most important part. I use to think that guys that said that were the ones that didnt score but its true its good just to be out.

I take my camera with me and usually end up with some really good photos of the area where I'm hunting. So far, I've pulled tags 6 years in a row in Nevada. That has to be some kind of record! I got antelope, bull elk, deer, cow, cow, and now deer again. I didn't get a cow last year but not for lack of trying. Just wasn't where they were. I don't trophy hunt, though a big buck would be nice. I'm out of hormone-free meat and need to resupply!

Is that pretty good for NV? never have hunted in NV. BIL and I use to apply for tags in MT WY ID CO UT Got MT WY every year and ID CO as a rule UT one or two times. I have never hunted for the Trophy but have now changed. I like the ELK meat and Deer sausage and that is what I went for. But the meat of both around our place is like burger in the store. BIL and his whole crew get both FIL gets both wife gets both so meat is no biggie. I would like to put my name in the books with a bigg-in but doubt it will happen. The really BIG ONES are hard to find, just not like 36 years ago when I started to hunt MT

If any of yall need some live target practice I have a pack of wild dog that need removed. They killed my dog this morning, but you better come quick.

I'm up!! Got my hired hand, and he's blood-thirsty as I am... . I kill all the ones I can. I'll travel out of my way to kill them. PM me if you really want them killed. My credentials:

DAMN HH you KICKED it to death thats a pretty tough dude!!!!!! Up here we take the sissy way and shoot them with this new thing called a GUN!!!!

How many times did ya have to kick it

HH the wife goes out to get one of our little pigs ready instead of KICKING IT TO DEATH. She takes a Pretty good sized BALL-PEEN-HAMMER and feels around on its forehead and marks the spot with her thumb. Then picks up the BALL-PEEN and just before she smacks her thumb she moves it and accidently HAMMERS the pig. She puts game hooks in its hind legs and I hoist it up and she slits it neck collects the blood in Ball-Mason Jars and said blood sausage in the morning BIG!!!! #ad

But how can you KICK ONE TO DEATH??

Kick it to death?!?! Really? I just ate a good batch of good deer chille, let it brew a while, and then I got upwind!! Sasquatch!! My *** is still burning a little, though... . :(

Really, though, I've been using my . 223 AR with M855 ammo. It works with the FMJ to penetrate and knock them down. That hog in the picture got ran down with my gas rig, then I popped him in the head with my . 357 hammer :D Typically, you need a heavy hitting caliber, like a minimum of . 243 Win with 85gr or heavier bullets. A friend shot one a few years back with a 22-250 and 55gr Hornady V-max bullets..... the pig went down, but jumped right back up and run like heck!! I butt-shot it, as that was the only shot I had, and took off after it afoot. It holed up under a big cedar tree and came out after me when it heard me coming up on it..... the . 45 finished it off to the top of the head..... There was a huge flesh wound in the forward part of the shoulder, but it went in to the inner shield they have around their head and shoulders, and it didn't penetrate enough to do any real damage. The hog would have lived fine, had I not shot it again. Tim was pretty upset, he doesn't like to wound game... . He got his . 243 out after that. With 100gr Winchester ammo, he didn't have any problem with knocking any others down and them staying down. Well, other than getting a shot off before me or dad... . :D

Been hog hunting only 1 time in Ca wasn't much of a hunt eveything is on private land or if it's not you have to be a Triathlete to get to where they are and then to pack out a hog on your back is just not an option I was up to. The guy's that I went with were from work and used some pretty heavy artillery. I took my 270 and put one behind its ear at about 250yrds didn't want to waste any of the meat at the price we payed for what amounts to a TRESSPASS FEE. The hog was some good eating barley and other grain field's that the pigs were decimating and the farmers got them removed and got paid for it to boot. HAAAAAA HUNTING IN CA.
